Thank you. We did find Nannie's grave several years ago. It's a pleasant cemetery, well kept out in the country.

By the way, Nannie Goodbar is listed on Ancestry.com as being buried in Bethel Cemetery in Daviess County, Missouri and her headstone lists her as being born 25 Feb 1859 and died 22 Nov 1909.

The 1870 census of Carroll County, Missouri lists James Cochran and his second wife, Mary C. Mears along with his 10 kids, including Nannie who is listed as being 11 years old. James was 81 years old when he died 18 Aug 1891 and is buried in Pleasant Park Cemetery in Carroll County. James and Mary C. Mears were married 6 June 1850 in Carroll County by Kemp Scott, M. G.
The 1900 census of Daviess County, Missouri has John H. Goodbar and Nannie with their 2 year old daughter, Pearl. Nannie is listed as being 39 years old with her parents being both born in Virginia (which is were both James & Mary were born) and she and John had been married 5 years. Nannie is listed as having born 2 children with only Pearl being still living.
So it appears that Nannie was in fact the daughter of James Cochran and his second wife Mary C. Mears.

Our tree gets stuck at John Walter COCHRAN, supposed to have been born in Springfield, Sangamon Co., Ill. into a family of 12 children, the result of two marriages... have only one brother name, Wendell COCHRAN...
John ended up in Fayetteville, Washington Co., AR by 1861; he and his wife Rebecca or Rachel WHITE Cochran beget three children there:
Hiram Walter COCHRAN b. 6/22/1861;
Albert COCHRAN b. about 1864; and (my connection)
Sarah Eldora "Dora" COCHRAN, b. 9/08/1866.
The family moved to Austin, Travis Co., TX, sometime before 1874, which is when the parents are supposed to have died there, leaving behind three orphans...
On a 1880 census for the household (HANSBROUGH) that took Dora in, she listed her birthplace, and that of her parents, as MO. Don't know why the discrepancy, but she was 14 at that point...
Any and all information/suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

Do you have a COCHRAN relative who arrived in New York City from Belfast in 1844? I am having a great deal of difficulty trying to trace the family of William COCHRAN, born c1824-1826, Belfast area, County Antrim, Ireland. My only information is that he was the son of ?Cochran and ?Crawford.
In 1844, he left Ireland, sailed to NYC, where "he left some uncles" and then proceeded to Pembroke, Ontario, Canada. In 1848 he married Margaret Anne Matthews (daughter of John Matthews and Margaret Hamilton, Dromara, County Down). Their children were: Margaret, Elizabeth, Ann, William, Nancy, Sarah, John and Jane.
I have not been able to find one relative of William Cochran, either in North America or Ireland. I would be delighted to hear from anyone with a suggestion to my problem. Thanks.
Alice Cochrane

I'm new to all of this genealogy stuff but find it fascinating. I have been trying to find information on my husband's grandparents. They are Larkin and Nancy McGee Cochran. My mother-in-law told me before she died that they (her parents) moved from Raven, Virginia in a covered wagon to Knox County, KY. This would have been sometime between 1900, when my mother-in-law was born and 1915(?). They later moved to Clark County, IN and are buried in the Blue Lick Cemetery there. They had 8 children: Lizzie, Cinda, Liza, Martha, Charlie, Hubert, Bill, and Bob. I would certainly appreciate any information anyone has.
