Hi,
I believe that we have emailed each other before and couldn't connect
families but I think you may have found some new info.
The line I am tracing isWilliam Pressley Cochran, son of William "Allen"
Cochran born ca 1807 in SC who was the son of William Cochran that I have
estimated born between 1750-60. I have William P. and Allen in Newton and
Campbell County, Ga.
Where did you find your info on William and Margaret? I am hoping this might
be my William also.
Thanks for your help.
Loretta Cochran

I am searching for the children of the second family of Garnett H.
Cochran
Ellis Cochran
Oliver Cochran
William Cochran
They would have been born in Yakima, WA after 1909. Sons of Garnett H.
Cochran, and spouse Minnie Mae Cochran.
They would be my grandmother Pearl Helen Cochran's 1/2 brothers.

Subject:Federal Government Wants to Restrict Research in Birth Records
To: MCULTR-L(a)LISTS.MAINE.EDU
Just got a copy of a letter from the U.S. State Department asking
states
to restrict access to all birth records. "In order to protect the
integrity
of those vital records and the issuance process, we believe it is
important
that states restrict the inspection of a birth record only to the
individual
named on the record, immediate family, legar guardians or their
authorized
representatives."
Well, that should slow down the genealogy research folks! Let alone
other
research efforts. No cut-off date is mentioned, so Thomas Jefferson's
birth
record would be off limits, let alone those of his children.
O.K. This was just a "request" to help prevent passport fraud.
However,
the Archives is not in the business of restricting access to public
records.
The current administration may be setting the stage to close these
records
by law. As more records are closed in the name of "privacy," citizens
loose
a bit more control over their public records, and their government.
The "cause of death" is currently restricted on modern death
certificates
in Maine. While that protects people's current privacy, it masks
trouble in
medical facilities that routinely list the cause of death as "cardiac

Has anyone seen a mention of a
"Peter Joseph Tucker" (my great grandfather),
abt. b1830-d1865 who Married
Margaret (Gore) Ormsby abt. 1860, and supposedly
"died at sea" -probably on Lake Ontario?
They had a son,
P.J. Tucker Jr. b1864-d1931 Who was raised by
Margaret's sister,
Ann (Gore) Ormsby Corcoran in Philadelphia.
Margaret's and Ann Ormsby's Parents
are probably
William Ormsby Gore, ID: I1404 and
Mary Jane (Gore) Ormsby, ID: I1407 (married January 11, 1815)
in Sligo, Ireland. No record found of their
immigration to USA.
Margaret (Gore) Ormsby (Tucker) remarried and had another
son, name unknown, after P.J. Tucker Sr
died. she may have remained in the
New York area as late as the 1890's.
Her father, William, a Gore, added confusion to
the quest because he took Margaret's Ormsby
name in order to acquire the Family Crest.
Thus, Mary Jane and their children, Margaret
and Ann kept the Ormsby name, rather
than the Gore name.
Peter Joseph Tucker's origins are the #1 mystery,
Margaret and Ann (Gore) Ormsby are #2
Husbands, If all that Gore, Ormsby, Cochran, Tucker stuff
is confusing, think 2X if you ever get the urge to change
your surname to match your Wife's!
If William and Mary Ormsby had any sons, (UNK),
They are really Gores in blood line terms.
Cheers
John Tucker
I try not to send too much of this stuff but there are a couple of doozies going

F-Secure Corporation (HEX:FSC), a leading provider of centrally-managed, widely
distributed security solutions is alerting computer users worldwide about a new,
rapidly
spreading e-mail worm named VBSWG.X, also known as Homepage, is an encrypted
e-mail worm found in the wild on May 9th, 2001.
This is an encrypted worm generated with VBSWG
virus kit. It is similar to the widely spread worm at
February 2001 - VBS/Onthefly (also known as Anna
Kournikova worm VBSWG.X worm spreads using
Outlook Application. This new virus sends messages
with a subject "Homepage" and a body "You've got to
see this page! It's really cool ;O)".
When the attached file is executed, the worm will
send (mass mail) itself to each recipient in every
address book. After this, the worm attempts to open
one of four x-rated web pages. However, the
mass-mailing part of the code generates much more
serious consequences, including overloading e-mail servers and public relation
problems.
"Early propogation reports indicate that this virus is spreading faster than
many of the
biggest viruses we saw last year", comments Mikko Hypponen. "It's seems to be
spreading faster as Anna Kournikova".
As soon as F-Secure got got a sample of the virus, it added detection of this
virus
version. This took around two hours, and took place Wednesday 9th 3 AM Utc.

Looking for anyone who has ties to the following Cochran line.
Thomas Cochran b. unk, d. unk. Lived in the Philadelphia area and came

+Somebody from Conn. Area.

1. William Cochran b. 1818--- d. 1901 Meriden, CT area
+ Nancy Butler b. abt 1821----d.1907
their children, Henry Cochran, Charles E. Cochran b. abt 1840, George H.

Sarah B. Cochran b. abt 1849 (married Jefferson Lawrence)
2. George M. Cochran b. abt. 1823----d. ???
3. Andrew ? Cochran b. abt. 1830----d.???
I am a descendant of Andrew Cochran, son of William and Nancy Cochran.
Their daughter, Sarah, who married Jefferson Lawrence, lived at one time
in the Illion, NY area and later moved back to Meriden, CT. Her father
William was living with her in the Meriden area when he died in 1901.
Andrew was living in Meriden, CT and was married to Mary Gliney and they
had two sons, William or Wills, and Charles. Both boys were given over
to a boys home in Hartford, CT and are listed as living at the boys home
on the 1880 Census. Charles, my grandfather, was born in CT. on Jan. 11,
1874 and his brother was born about 3 years earlier. Apparently both boys
were shipped out west on an orphan train and as family lore has it William
or Wills went to live with a family around the Lexington, NB area, and
Charles went to live with a family in Iowa.
I am looking to make contact with anyone who might have additional information
on this Cochran line.
