Don't mean to be rude but I think you forgot something very important in
your post.
What is her name?
You told all about her but did not mention her name.
I am guessing that she was the Cochran as this name is listed but not in
the body only in the surname list above the post.
Is this correct? If so what is her given name please?
Also I am very much interesed in this as I too have folks by this name.

I'm not sure where to send this query so I hope this is correct.
LEE-COCHRAN-ZANE
My grandmother, Alice (Allie) LEE, has been a brick wall to me. All I know
about her is that she was born about 1855 in Wisconsin. She was listed as
married to a Joseph Lester COCHRAN in the 1880 Chase Co., KS Census with two
children, Lee 4 years old and Evelyn 10 months. In 1891 she married my
grandfather, Dr. Thomas Michael ZANE and had two children, one of which was
my mother. They lived in Osage City, Kansas. There was a divorce after my
mother was born in 1895 and no record of her since. If anyone has any info
on her, or her COCHRAN children, I would really appreciate hearing from you.

. Have you run across this name in your family?
No I have not - however since William seems to be a popular first name in the
Cochrans, would the name be William?
By the way - in another family search we finally found our Leonard - it was
spelled Leenard in the census, makes life interesting doesn't it?

Does anyone have more children for Jacob Cochran [ 1824, Beaver County,
Pennsylvania] - I have Charles Woodson; Josiah Johnson; John Miles Calvin;
Jacob H.; and Mary Harriet.
Yes we are still looking for the ever-elusive S.W. born in 1823 and
supposedly in Tennessee - at least that is the family says.
John Miles Calvin Cochran was born and died in Missouri- although his
children were born in Arkansas. At least that is what I have in my records.

Surname: Cochrane, Mathers

My William Cochrane was born in Berkeley County VA and spent his youth
in Washington County, PA. He apprenticed in the potters trade in Zanesville,
OH and in 1816 married Anna Biddle Mathers daughter of Col. Mathers of
St. Clairsville, OH. They lived in Marshall County, WVA, Ohio County WVA,
and possibly somewhere in OH. They moved to Burlington, IA in 1841 and
on to Mahaska County, Harrison TWp. in 1848. They moved to Warren County,
IA in 1864. The names you mentioned do not appear in my family, but most
of these families traveled with other family members so I just put the
information away and it may match up at a later date. This family of mine
has been the most difficult to track and I have no idea who siblings of
either William or Anna are.

John Lowrey COCHRAN was in Zanesville from about 1806 till his death
in 1868. John's brother James arrived in Zanesville either with John or
within the next several years. Another brother, Hugh, came later. There
were at least 6 other siblings, but I haven't found a record of their being
in Zanesville OH or Muskingum Co. OH.
The 1820 census index lists only John L. and he was also the only one
I was able to locate on the microfilm. The 1830 index lists John L., Hugh,
Rosannah, and David. I found John L, Hugh, Rosannah and also a James on the
1830 microfilm.
There was no Sanford or Larkins COCHRAN (or Cockran or Cochrane) on
these or on the 1840 census. Also the name Sanford Cochran does not appear
in a listing of recorded Muskingum Co. OH marriages. Could the names
Sanford or Larkins have been middle names? Several of John L's sons went by
their middle names and other Cochrans may have also.

My great grandfather Joseph Cochrane was born in Elizabeth City, Marshall
County, West Virginia in 1831. His father was William Cochrane and his
mother was Anna Biddle Mathers Cochrane. They next appeared in Mahaska
County, Iowa in the 1840's. William and Anna are buried in Warren County,
IA. Joseph died in California. I have been unable to find any siblings
of William. Most of his early life was spent in that area of the country
where PA, WVA, and OH all kind of blend together. He was a potter and apprenticed
in Zanesville, OH. If any of this information matches yours, I would be
happy to exchange info.
James COCHRAN, born around 1798 in North Carolina, married Beresia? ___?____
(born around 1806 in North Carolina). Moved to Georgia by 1840-41 and to
Blount County, Alabama by 1850-51.
Son James COCHRAN, born 1850-51 in Blount County, Alabama married Caroline
___?___ born around 1850 in Alabama). First child, William Martin COCHRAN
born October, 1869 in Etowah County, Alabama (part of Blount county became
the new Etowah county in 1866). William Martin COCHRAN had a brother, John
F., born around 1873 in Etowah County, Alabama.
William Martin COCHRAN married Mary SITZ (born around 1871 in Etowah County,
Alabama, daughter of W. L. and Martha E. SITZ) on 23 Oct. 1887. Their second
son, William Oscar COCHRAN was born 21 Apr. 1891 in Etowah County, Alabama.
William Oscar COCHRAN had an older brother, Frank COCHRAN, born around 1889
in Etowah County, Alabama married Sallie __?___ (born around 1897 in
Alabama).
William Oscar COCHRAN married Lois Deloma YATES (born 6 Mar 1900 in Etowah
County, AL to George Washington YATES and Lavada BLACKWELL) in 1914. They
had 5 children, 3 lived to adult-hood and one daughter, my mother, is still
going strong at 85.
I am searching for any leads that may help me establish to which county(ies)
in North Carolina and Georgia I should narrow my research. Thanks in
advance for any help and, if you're a cousin, say "hey". I'd really think I
hit the jackpot if I could get the maiden names for the wives of the two
James Cochrans.
