2nd Annual Cochran Family Reunion has been scheduled for October 28th, 2000
starting at 10:00 and continuing until late afternoon. It will be held at
the White House Community Center located in Clara, Mississippi. Which is
about 18 miles south of Waynesboro, Mississippi. Everyone is encouraged to
come and join us as we relax, visit with our relatives and enjoy the day
together. We will also have the opportunity to visit some of the gravesites
of our ancestors that were laid to rest in the White House Cemetery located
next to the Community House.
Directions to the site of the White House Community House:
Traveling east on Hwy 98 out of Lucedale, Mississippi about 5 miles turn onto
Hwy 63 and head north. You will stay on Hwy 63 and continue heading north
traveling through Leakesville, Mississippi and several other small
communities, like Avera, Sandhill which we have kinfolk living in these
places. As you are traveling, notice the names of some of the roads, you will
see Cochran, Walley and others we can lay claim to. Continue heading toward
Waynesboro, Mississippi, which is located in Wayne County. As you come into
Clara, Mississippi there will be the Clara School that comes up on your right
then a few miles further you will see the Clara water tower located on your
left and the road to the Church, Community House and Cemetery is directly to
the right of the water tower. The road is called "White House Chapel or
Cemetery Rd". Please keep in mind that Clara is a very small place and very
much slow paced. A lot of good people live in that community and that is were
or roots come from. Bring a covered dish and be prepared to enjoy the full
day with us. Don’t forget to bring your camera so you can capture some
memories. Look forward to seeing all of you there.
Respectfully,
Sally Cochran

I would like to correspond with anyone who has someone in their family file
who might have had an individual who spelled COCHRAN as COCHRUM. Not all
used the COCHRUM spelling: COCKRAM, COCHRUN, COCKRUN, COCKRUM, COCHRAM
My Cochrum line migrated from NC>Jackson Purchase (specifically Calloway,
Graves and McCracken Counties) of KY. The descendants scattered to
different areas beginning abt. 1890. Other locations that I know of are:
TX, CA, OH, St. Louis, MO.
I'm sure there are others.
Anyone interested in my line can check out my gedcom at
http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/
Database name: lrogers
Please note that I hope to update my gedcom tonight with new Cochrum info.
Hope to hear from someone.
Particulary interested in learning about some of the descendants. Will
share my family file with notes via email.
Thanks,
Lori
