I'm looking for information on Thomas Cochran. We have it that he came
to Texas on a wagon train with a brother named John. His brother went
down towards San Antonio, Texas. This was in about 1847, Thomas lived
with some people he met on the wagon train. He may have had one sister
that stayed in Maryland. He married Novalina Knott at Glen Rose, Texas.
They had a farm at Pluxey which is close to Glenn Rose. They had 10
children some died young and some lived to be grown. some of the named I
have, but not to sure are, Emma, Jim, Doll, Mallie, Annie, William and
Roy (this is my husband grandfather). If anyone has an information on
any of these people I would like to here from you. Please send me an
e-mail at
kaburch(a)mmind.net Thank you K. Burch
PS He lived with a man named Edwan L. Cox 31, and Elizabeth C. 17. This
I found in the 1860 Census Hunt Co. Texas . Thomas Cochran was 12, he
was a laborer born in Illinois. Thanks again
K. Burch
Dear List:
I've posted this brickwall once before and thought I should try again just in
case. (hope springs eternal!!).
In the family bible, Rufus Cochran's birth is listed July 8,1858 in Selma,
(Dallas Co) Ala. The family story is his parents were killed by Indians and
he was raised by kin. At some point, he traveled to Texas with a family
named BELL.
The only facts we know are, in 1879, Rufus married Sarah Elizabeth (Lizzie)
Halford in Waco, Texas. He died in Waco in April 26, 1939. He and Lizzie
had several children:
Willie Cochran born Oct. 1, 1879
Daniel R. born Jan 31, 1881
Mary Oleavie born May 13, 1884 Marr. Clarence Jenkins,
children Percy Edward & Flossie.
Flossie marr. Ted Gettinger and lived in
Los Angeles
and Mary Ollie lived with them.
Lucindia born April 27, 1887
Julia born Feb. 16, 1889
Nell born March 30, 1891
Francis born May 30, 1893
John Ransom born July 3, 1895.
We did meet some cousins in Long Beach, Calif at P. Edward's death. To my
regret, we never exchanged phone numbers
If there are any leads, clues a memory tucked into the above story, please
email me and I will be eternally grateful. We are trying to find out who
Rufus' parents or siblings were. Many thanks, Roseanna in Fresno, Calif

Wendy,
Please add my name to the list.
I know how frustrating it can be to lose all the lists...I just got mine
back running again last week.
Lost all the addresses! What a mess!

Hello everyone,
Well I had a major computer crash. I had to reformat my computer, and as
anyone who has ever had this happen to them, then you know, everything on my
computer was deleted and I have to start from scratch.
So if you emailed me, and wanted to me to let you know when the Clan
Cochran newsletter will be up, could you all be so kind and drop me another
email. Or even if this is the first time you heard of this and want to be
added, then by all means drop me an email and let me know..
Sorry for all the trouble.

Hi!
Pearson lists to "COCHRAN(E)'s" in his "Genealogies of the First Settlers of
Schenectady."
Gerrit COCHRANE and Hester HEMTOM who had Maria, bp Mar 24, 1784
Andrew COCHRAN and Jemima WILSON who had Andrew, b Nov 26, 1787.
Looking for any leads on the descendents of these people. My quest is
actually for Ellen COCHRANE b in Albany 1805 - 1825 who married Michael
MCGRAW. Their eldest child was born about 1835.
Thanks for any leads!
Pat Olson

Looking to find info on William Cochran b. 1766 in Co. Antrim, Ireland and came to PA abt 1795. Looking to find out who his parents were and where exactly in Co. Antrim he was from. Also last name of wife Elizabeth, b. 1768, place unknown. William had a brother John, but it is unclear whether he stayed in Ireland or came here also. Any help greatly appreciated.
