Hello,
I have some questions about the data given below. I am a
descendant of George Cochran and his wife Hannah Ward. They
had a son named John Cochran (b. 1835) who was raised, "grew
to manhood and married", in Pickaway County, Ohio. His sister
(Mary Jane Cochran) was born in Pickaway Co. in 1837.
This is my line:
George W. Cochran (born between 1770 & 1780) married to Mary
Sutherland (1782-1856).
George Cochran (1807-1887) married to Hannah Ward (born
between 1800 & 1815 & died before. 04 May 1845)
John Cochran (1835-1908) married to Elizabeth
Hendrickson (born between 1836 & 1839 - died 1914)

William H. Ward vs John Cochran and Others
On May 12, 1849, a petition was filed by William H. Ward
stating that he
has the legal right to one undivided eighth part of three
undivided three
parts of 200 acres of land which William E. Rout owned at the
time of his
death and devised to Matilda Ward and Fanny Anderson. William
H. Ward states

Betsey Ward children

by purchase
from John Andersen the husband of Fanny Anderson dec'd.
Matilda Ward is
not of sound mind and Sarah Eve Ward and Betsey Ward are
minors. The petition
was amended stating the widow and heirs of Jefferson Rout
dec'd, late of
Washington D.C., claim to have some interest in a portion of
the real estate.
The present name of the said widow is Caroline Weber and the
children of
Jefferson Rout are Sophia M. Rout and Thomas Jefferson Rout

living with their mother in Washington D.C.. Two continuances.
John Cochran
was given 1/4 part, (Others also received shares). The land
was ordered
to be sold. On November 25, 1850 it was sold to John Cochran
for $19.125

1. Can anyone identify this particular Cochran or Ward? Give
names to either's parents and/or siblings? Identify where in
Pickaway County each lived? Establish any relationship(s)
between him/them and one/any of the John Cochran's living in
Pickaway County during a similar time period?
2. Can anyone identify either man's children's spouses?
I'm interested in either adding or eliminating these folks
from my list of "possible ancestors" <grin>.
Thank you,
Terri Rene DaVar-Howard

He married Polly (Mary) O'Harra, a daughter of John O'Harra.

William or Wills Cochran was born June 16, 1871 in Meriden, CT to Andrew
and Mary Gliney Cochran. At around the age of 8 William and his younger
brother Charles were turned over to a boys home in Hartford, CT. The 1880
Census lists them as being there. At some later date William and his brother
were sent west on one of the orphan trains. William was supposed to have
gone to live with a family in Lexington, Nebraska. I would appreciated
hearing from anyone who might have infromation about William (Wills) and
his family if indeed he had one. Wife, children, dates etc.

I'd like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. This is a time of the year when
a lot of travelling goes on so please be careful. Yesterday I went to my
grandmother's house for her Christmas dinner. She's now 85 and I've been
wondering over the last few years if it'll be her last as she's in bad
health. Today we have Christmas dinner with my in-laws and supper with my
parents. So I'm going to be on the road a lot again today. I hope the season
brings a little bit of joy to all of your hearts. Merry Christmas!

death was sudden. Although he had been complaining during the winter, his

Gary,
Yes my tree is online at www.soncom.com/wojo . I remember talking to you
before. At least I think it was you. I commented one the name of "Dillard".
Because I have a John "Dillard" Cochran over in WA that is my
gg-grandfather.. Back then you didn't think we had a connection. BUT, I will
tell you, in my search, I have found some Cochrans that are related to me in
TX.
I can or maybe I already did send you the whole Cochran file I have..
What is on the net in not everything I have in my genealogy program.. I had
to halt work on my website to get the boss's web site up.. So mine own had
to back seat for a while. Now that I am done with that, I am hoping to get
back to my own right after Christmas..

This is basically what it says (Below).. Except for the fact I can't get the email to paste the FGS in here. So I just did a descendant report. Has all the important info that was on the FGS and then some.. I added the missing dates in here from what was on the FGS
The only thing we don't agree on is the death for Robert.. The mystery person has the burial aft. Jun 24 1884, and I have his death as 1822.. (Robert the son, not the father) I would assume the sender is correct since they have an exact date..
Oh, and for Samuel's wife, they have Isabella Mason, I have her to, but I also have a second wife for him..
Since this info doesn't have to do with the Oregon Cochrans, which is a bit perplexing to me.. I thought there were very few of us west coast Cochrans that cared to do genealogy.. And since this info is on the KY branch, it only adds to mystery for me.. I am referring to the branch of Cochrans that tie into my genealogy tree of course. I am sure there are a lot more Cochrans out west that do genealogy. Just haven't been able to tie them into my tree as of yet..
Here you go..
