Subject: GREAT NEWS - Publisher has AGREED to PUBLISH the 13th Miss. Book
Date: Sun, 19 Nov 2000 11:55:20 -0800
From: Jess McLean <jmclean(a)airmail.net>
Organization: Check the 13th WEB PAGE at >>>

Hey everyone-
GREAT NEWS for all of us - finally. Yesterday, Saturday November
19th, I received a letter from the publishers reviewer recommending
that the book be published.. Then, this morning I received a personal
email from the owner and publisher of the company who wrote
"Three of my people have looked over your material and we like it, Get
back to me when you have time. confirming the offer."
Needless to say I GOT THE TIME. So I wrote back to him to name the time
and place to sign the agreement and I'll be there. -- AIN"T THAT
JUST GREAT? OUR Christmas arrived early this year.
So OUR MEN will HAVE THEIR MAGNIFICENT RECORDS OF SERVICE, HEROISM AND
BRAVERY approriately imbedded TRUTHFULLY [all documented] in homes
libraries all over the country for all the future generations to see.
The publisher expressed a strong interest in the fact that there were so
many people who had corresponded with me and provided information about
the soldiers and their families. SO MOST OF THE CREDIT GOES TO EACH OF
YOU FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS which make this work come alive with the
eyewitness acounts these men recorded It would have been empty with out
it.
So THANKS AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU for your very STRONG and
PATIENT SUPPORT.
PLEASE - if you have any new or additional information you wish me to
include - get it to me.I don't know when the deadline will be - BUT WE
ALL WANT THIS TO MOVE ALONG.
Please - make sure that if you have moved or not sent me your MAILING
ADDRESS get it to me. The publisher will definitely be doing a mailing.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and have a GREAT THANKSGIVING.
Jess.
I am searching for info on my grandmother, Alice (LEE) (1st Marriage
COCHRAN), 2nd Marriage to my grandfather, Thomas Michael ZANE. As near as I
can figure from census records she was born in Wisconsin in about 1855. Her
parents may have been Nelson LEE & Sarah. She was married to my grandfather
in 1891 and they were divorced in 1897/8. There is no word of her since and
I have spent much time trying to find a death or another marriage. While she
was married to Joseph L. COCHRAN there were apparently children, a boy and a
girl, Lee and Evelyn Cochran.
While she was married to Thomas Michael ZANE they had two children, my mother
Mildred Lee, b. 1895 and a son Thomas Arlington ZANE, b. 1893, both in Osage
City, KS. I would appreciate any help or suggestions for further research.
My e-mail address is: MManroe(a)aol.com
Thank you, Mary Manroe

I am searching for information on either side of my gg-grandparents family.
My gg-grandmother was Elizabeth Ann Cochran b. 9/24/1821 in PA or NY and
d. 9/3/1888 in Dakota Territory. She however, lived in the Westfield, New
York area prior to heading for Dakota Territory in 1849-50.
Her husband was Robert Cochran b. 1820 in Ireland and died 11/26/1851 in
Wisconsin, on the families trek west.
They had three children all born in Westfield, NY. Elizabeth b. 8/4/1844,
Emmett b. 10/11/1846 and Byron James b. 4/11/1849.
Elizabeth had a brother by the name of John who live in Washington state
in the late 1800's and we think began his westward travel in 1849-50 with
the family described above.
Any help appreciated.

Thank you, Larry, for the information about copyright laws as they apply to genealogy. I
have read them before, but need to read them periodically to remember them.
I am also interested in the Cochran lines that you are researching. My grandfather's name
was Augustus Byron Cochrane. He was born in Colchester, IL April 26, 1844. I believe his
father's name was Daniel Lewis Cockerham (Cokerain)(Cochran) etc. He was born in Indiana,
abt 1826, according to the 1860 census. Augustus Byron had a son named Samuel and the
name is very common in the group of Cochrans who appear to belong to the same family.
I wondered if you might have crossed the path of this Cochran line.
Thanks in advance,
Lucia Overgaard

moved from Virginia to South Carolina. The second may have been one
