If you haven't used these searchable databases for the state of IL you
might like to try them. The first URL is to the IL state archives home
database page and includes a link to the 2nd URL, which is a searchable
marriage database. Both sites are excellent and include information on
how to obtain copies of the documents in the databases. Both URL's will
do statewide searches based on just a last name.

Hello,
Thank you Mr. Murphy for passing along this query. I am responding to both
the COCHRAN-L list and the query from Jack & Marianne Dibean in this same
E-mail. I so rarely see anyone else interested in this branch of my line, I
was quite pleased to see the query.
The marriage of my 4th great grandparents occurred in Jackson Co., MI. I
have a Family Tree Maker website for my COCHRAN line, if anyone wants to
check it out, here is the URL:
http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/c/a/s/Janice--M-Castleman/ODT6-0001.htm
l. If you don't have Internet connections through Juno, please E-mail and I
will be happy to exchange family data with you.

Hi! This is my first message on the Cochran newsletter. I am descended
from John Cochran (b. 1768 Franklin Co., VA - d. 1809 Jasper Co., GA) m.
1786 in Franklin Co., Susannah Lumsden. John and Susannah emigrated to
Greene Co., GA and from there to Jasper Co., GA. They had a son Jubil and a
daughter, Malinda, that I know of.
I would certainly like to correspond with anyone who is familiar with these
Cochran folks.

Hi. We have a list of folks researching COCHRANE/COCHRAN/COCKRAN names
(& FOWLER and related families) on onelist.com. It is called
COCHRANES-OF-CALVERT and we are mainly trying to amass info on the Wm. &
Jas.
COCHRANE families of Calvert Co who showed up there ca. 1850. They were
"supposedly" from IRE but no proof at all. Anyway, we too, are most
interested in the
COCHRAM variation of the name. To join-

Also rootsweb has COCHRANE and COCHRAN lists. I moderate the COCHRANE-L
and to subscribe, mailto:COCHRANE-L-REQUEST@rootsweb.com & just write
the
single word SUBSCRIBE in both the subject and body areas. Nothing else
or it will bounce.
Hope this helps. I am posting to Chas.Co & CalvCo lists in case anyone
else is interested
in COCHRANE research in the area. Bonnie Treon gatreon(a)vnet.net
PS-all our lists have "searchable" archives too.

In Vol. 1 of the Trinity Parish Vestry Books, 1728-1787, there is a
record
of birth for Edward Cockram on 7 June 1748, s/o Nathan and Sarah
Cockram.
I am trying to determine if these three were the same who appeared in
Halifax County, Virginia, by 1764. Nathan Cockram died about 1778 in
Henry
County, Virginia and Sarah later married William Harris. Edward Cockram
had
legal troubles with Harris over the settlement of Nathan's estate.
Edward
died in Franklin County, Virginia in 1816.
Anyone familar with this family, or Cockrams in Charles County,
Maryland, I
would appreciate hearing from you.
