Hello:
My grandfather, Robert F. Cochran was born 1886; supposedly in "Beaver
Creek" Pennsylvania. He had two sisters, Beulah and Flora. Their
parents were supposedly Emmanuel Cochran and Elsie Drumboro. I have as
yet found nothing to document any of this. These names do not seem to
show up in any records.
Any help will be appreciated.

FYI....
Anyone who wants to save their email adds, go to www.myphonebook.com or to
save fav places, www.mybookmarks.com both places are free, and will give
you instructions on how to export them up to their sites, for free. Great
way to access fav places if you are not on your computer (library, reletive
etc) or to send email using your email account (dont know if it will work
that way for AOL or similar providers not using a POP 3 mail system)

Does anyone have any info on a Cochran family settled in Los Angeles by 1900? Martha Cochran was my great-grandmother. She married Marcus Casenave in Los Angeles and they had one child, Jeanne Casenave in 1906. I believe Martha's father's name was V. V. Cochran and he had a company in Los Angeles called Citizens Drayage Company, later Citizens Hauling. If anyone can help, I greatly appreciate it. Deborah Johnson
Someone sent me the following email. Can anyone identify any of these

Hi again!
I have a peculiar problem....the friend that I'm helping, doesn't have
internet
access, so I'm doing this "second hand", for her. I've known her all my
life,
we grew up together here in Sanford, FL, (11 miles north of Orlando) and
yes,
Titusville is just due east of Sanford, and Orlando. Anyway, Mary, (my
friend)
was given up at birth, for adoption. Her adoptive parents have both passed
away, and she has a copy of her adoption record. On it, it lists several
different names for her biological mother. The first being : "Elizabeth
Mae
Cochran", then "Betty Mae Cochran", then there is a quick mention of other
last
names of "Poole", "Cockrell", and "Coleman". Then it lists her biological
father as being a "Sam Cochran" and in another place, a "Samuel W.
Cochran".
During one of the interviews, in the adoption process, it said that her
biol.
mother, had gone to Jacksonville, to stay with her sister or sister-in-law,
"
Royann or Roy Ann Cochran". Now, Mary was born in 1954. It says that her
mother, Elizabeth Mae Cochran was born in 1926, I believe. There is a
mention
that at the time Mary was given up, she had an older brother, that was 3 at
the
time, in 1954. He would have been born in 1951. Then, there is an entry in
the
adoption papers, that he died a few months after Mary was given up, in 1954.
There is also a mention in her papers, that the family had some ties to
South
Carolina, but I'm not sure how. Whether there were some Cochran family
members
living in South Carolina at the time, or what, I don't know for sure.
At one point, I went down to our Sanford museum, and looked in some old City
Directories, of Sanford in 1954, and there was a Sam Cochran listed, and
also a
James E. Cochran, and wife, RoyAnn Cochran. Mary told me that at birth, the
name she was given was Mary Julia Cochran, but when she was adopted, he
adoptive
parents changed her middle name to Lois, after her adoptive mother. But
they
left the name Mary.
Do any of these names look familiar? Thanks for taking a look.
Christine

The Panther.exe is indeed a pain, not quite a virus, but what is called a
"worm" and it is for real. I recieved the attachment from an aunt (father's
sister) and did not open it as the message should have contained a
congratulations on our soon-to-be addtion to the family...instead it had the
link to "messagemates.com" along witht the 67kb attachment, called
"panther.exe"....also, the subject line had been changed....to my email list
for my mother's surname, so I knew something was wrong. She had sent this
from her work email, at an Arkasas Police dispather's HQ, and calling in the
SysOp, it had to be "taken out"...so if you recieve something from
someone..even if you know them...and it is a link to messagemates.com and
has an attachment aprox. 67 or 68 kb....CHECK with the sender to be sure
they intended to send you something from Messagemates.
Anyway, Happy holidays to all, from the Cochran's

addressed from one of my lists at an address that isn't even subscribed to
the list! Rootsweb sent out a notice to all listowners a couple of days ago

The context of what appears to be the virus message is,
"http://stuart.messagemates.com/index.html
Hypercool Happy New Year 2000 funny programs and animations...
We attached our recent animation from this site in our mail! Check it out!"
It appears that the virus has found the Cochran list as I just received a
message addressed from the list in html with an attachment. Now first off
some of you might not think anything of that but the lists at Rootsweb are
set to only accept text message, not html messages and secondly the lists
doesn't allow for attachments. So be on the look out!
The message had the subject of "(COCHRAN-L) Fw: (not a subscriber} Re:
(SLATER-L) BIBLE: SAMSON/SAMPSON (Related Surnames: Co....." Do not open the
attachment! By the way, if this isn't enough, the message was sent to an
email address that I haven't used on the Cochran list for a few weeks and
I'm no longer subscribed to the list with it!

We have a Jacob Cochran in our family tree. He lived in West Virginia. I
have all of his children and some grandchildren. (Tyler/Wetzel County area).
If that sounds like yours, I'll tell you more.

Earnie, thank you for your reply. In searching for William Corbit Cochran,
This was a reply.
William Corbit Cochran, born 23 July 1907, died 30 January 1975. He was the
son of William Jefferson Cochran and Elizabeth "Betty" Mullins. The William
Corbit listed, married Vesta Edwards, in Dickenson Co, Va. date unknown.
Have no idea of where Corbit was born, but very sure he lived most of his
life in Dickenson Co, Va. Corbit and Vest had 7 children. They are:
1). Weda Ann, b: 28 Sept 1941, Haysi, Dickenson Co, Va. Married: Willie
Roger Anderson, 17 Dec 1959.
Two Children: Mark and Stehanie.
2). Paul Ray,
3). Billy Gene,
4). Dorthy Sue,
5). Fairy Bea,
6). Linda,
I believe that Corbit spent most of his life in and around Haysi, Dickenson
Co, Va. Where he came from or where his father, Wm Jefferson came from are
unknown to me. Any help appreciated, and will exchange info.
Thanks again,
Bill,
