Hello all.
I'm new to this list and hope someone can help with more information
about my ancestors Margaret COCHRAN/E and her husband William CUTHILL.
They married in Stirlingshire Scotland in 1784, either 14 February in
Airth parish or 23 January in Falkirk parish. I presume that one lived
in Airth and one in Falkirk and that banns were called in both parishes.
Margaret COCHRANE is possible the Margaret COCHRANE baptized in Airth on
29 February 1760, daughter of Alexander COCHRANE and Christian AUCHIE
(or JARVIE - there is a bit of variation in this name in the OPR).
Margaret and William had possibly 11 children in Falkirk and St Ninians
parishes, William 1784, Alexander 1786, Thomas 1786 (possibly twins),
Christian 1788, Janet 1788 (more twins?) Margaret 1873, Helen 1796, Jean
1799, another Thomas 1801, Archibald 1803 and another Archibald 1806. I
am descended from William (married Margaret Fleming) and also from
Margaret (married William Russell).
Any information on this family and on the parents, siblings etc of
William CUTHILL and Margaret COCHRANE would be appreciated.

Hi:
I've just started working on my daughter-in-law's family and find that her
grandmother was Una LaVon CAGE, born 08 Jul 1916, in Salt Lake City, UT. Her
parents were Darcy Lee CAGE and Ida Fern COCKRAN. Darcy Lee was supposedly
born in Cageville, TN.
Does any of this sound familiar? Would appreciate any help you can give.

I have a book in my posession, The Descendants of Matthew and Jane Ray,
written by Richard M. Cochran, Sr. who was born May 13, 1951 in Philadelphia.
The book contains quite a bit of information about the descendants of John
Cochran(e) who was born 14 June 1833 in Orghill, Largy, Limavady. county
Londonderry, Ireland; died 18 Aug 1911 in Columbus, Ohio. His children were
Matthew Ray, James Mark, William Wallace, John Wilson "Wilse", Edwin N., Harry
Albert, Margaret Jane, Joseph George, and Matthew Ray. I would like to
correspond with Richard Cochran if possible. My husband is the grandson of
Ethel Cochran who supplied him with some of the Cochran information. I would
also be happy to share any information in the book with anyone researching the
same line.
Thanks Elaine Davis West Linn, Oregon
I am searching for the ancestors of George Cochran who(I think) was born in
Scotland in 1795. I think he must have come to Pennsylvania with his parents
when he was quite young. Another Cochran researcher's Cochrans left Pa and
moved to Abbeville , County, SC. This would have to be before1829 because
George married a Mary G unk in SC and their first son. George Washington was
born in Abbeville on Oct 15, 1829. George and Mary had four more children
Felix(my ggrandfater),Anne, Frfances and Henry in Abbeville and then moved to
Campbell County, GA around 1855 where they had their last child, Sarah. I am
pretty certain that George died in Palmetto, GA, which is located in Campbell
County.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to locate the following COCHRAN family members. Mary COCHRAN
married 10/7/1731 to James PETTIGREW in Tyrone Ireland. Mary was born about
1713 in Tyrone and was the daughter of George Cochran and Rachel HIGGINBOTHAM.
George is apparently the son of Robert Cochran.
Anyone that can help me by EMail, I would greatly appreciate...

Hello, My name is Gloria PInkerton and I'm new to this list. COCHRAN is a new
line that I'm working on. Hopefully someone this time, will be working on a
line that I am... one can only hope! <grin>
My gggg-grandfather John COCHRAN married Elizabeth McFALLS.
They were both born in Ireland. They resided in Honeybrook Twp, Chester Co.,
PA
in 1850 and by 1860 were living in Mifflin Co., PA.
They had 5 children:
*Matilda b: 1825
Joseph b: 1826
Elizabeth b: 1836
William b: 1839
John b: 1841
Matilda COCHRAN is my ggg-grandmother. She married Robert KERR and was living
next to her parents in Chester Co. and again in Mifflin Co., PA. They had
8 children. Two of her girls ended up moving to Kansas abt 1875, one was my
gg-grandmother, Emma KERR MEER.
Joseph COCHRAN the brother to Matilda, went to Kansas with his two nieces,
Eliza Jane and Emma KERR.
He was married to a Susan. They had 12 children. Some of their children lived
in Lincoln Co., KS, some in Harvey Co., KS, some in Whitewater, Butler Co. KS,
and some in Topeka, Shawnee Co., KS.
I'm hoping that this is familiar to someone out there. I'd like to know more
about my COCHRAN line.
Thanks,

If anyone is interested in the family of William Cochran born in Ireland
abt. 1755, immigrated to Barnwell district, SC.

Hi,
I've just joined the group. I've been assembling information about the
Cochrans in my line and have put it on the Web at
http://www.alaska.net/~design/civilwar/cochrans.html
The introductory text on that page is:
Samuel Cochran I, a descendant of Scotch Covenanters, was a wealthy
merchant in Ireland.
Samuel II separated from his wife (who in later life was known
as Mrs. Harvey) after the
birth of Samuel III and later married another woman. Samuel
III was brought up in their
family but renounced his birthright and emigrated to America
because of the jealousy of his
foster-brother, Calvin.
Samuel III settled first in southern Vermont and then moved to
New York, first to Tioga
County and then to Buffalo. Catherine Gallup, a descendant of
French Huguenots, was a
cousin of Mercy Franklin who was a cousin of Benjamin
Franklin.
Samuel Cochran III was born in 1785 and died around 1840. He fought in
the war of 1812 and
an account of that is found on my web site at
http://www.alaska.net/~design/civilwar/1812.html
Any information about the Cochrans in this line will be, of course,
welcome.

I have looked through the information on your web page and was very
disappointed to find no mention of a child born in 1827 in Illinois. I had
thought that we might have finally nailed down our elusive Samuel. Do you
have any other information that might lead us in his direction. He was born,
we believe, in Illinois. He may have had two brothers, Caleb and Roderick.
In 1851 in Indiana he married Minerva Palmer. He was bound by a lawyer to
serve for him in the Civil War. The last Minerva heard from him was a letter
he wrote while in the Kokomo guardhouse where he was incarcerated for
desertion. He told her that he was being place in the 14th Battery in
Indianapolis. He drew his kit and provisions, but never reported for duty.
We have government records to that effect, but are expecting further
verification shortly. Does any of this ring any bells with you? We think his
mother's name might have been Ann C. because of census information we have
obtained. We are really stumped on this. It has been a continuing mystery
for our family since 1864, and I believe the search is further complicated by
the presence of another Samuel Cochran in that general area of Indiana with a
similar birth date as our Samuel. We think, also, that his middle initial was
probably W.
We would appreciate any information you might have on any stray Samuels you
have run across while doing your research.
Thank you so much for you help. As ever, we would be more than willing to pay
you any reasonable costs you should incur while trying to help us.
Thank you,
JLynn112(a)aol.com
Looking for anyone who can connect with Cockerham's or Cochrum's of

I am trying to find any information on Robert Cochran, of Halifax
Co., N.C. He died there in the 1820's. One son, Robert, moved to
Livingston Co., Kentucky, and a daughter, Margaret, married James
Champion and moved to Crittenden Co., Kentucky. If anyone knows
anything about Robert's parents, wife, or children, I would greatly
appreciate any help. I can't place him with other Cochran familys
of North Carolina. Thanks, David Champion. champion(a)icok.net
Re: Grover Cleveland Cochran in Arkansas - check with the Boone County Historical Society in Harrison, AR. There is a very nice woman who works there on Thursdays who knew Grover. He was related to my Cochran family somehow (my grandmother's uncle maybe) - lived right up the road, in fact.
If I find more specific info, I'll let you know.

What I should have said is:
Samuel W. Cochran born in Tennessee, married Charlotte in Moberly Missouri had
sons Joseph, William Houston Cochran born in (family tradition holds that he
was born in Tennessee) 1854, John C. Cochran, and James W. Cochran born in
(family traditions says Missouri) May 1864.
Seems the family moved between Missouri, Tennessee and Arkansas a lot.

I just received the digest version of the original query and your response. James W[ilson] COCHRAN is my great-grandfather. His death certificate upholds the Missouri birth, supposedly in Moberly, although I am yet to find conclusive evidence. The death certificate also lists Samuel W. COCHRAN as his father. I have traced the family Samuel and his parents, to Giles County, TN.
I would be very EAGER to correspond with anyone who can provide any additional information about any of these people and any associated lines. What I have so far is on my web page at http://206.9.170.101/attractions/memorabilia/genealogy/index.html - pick COCHRAN from the menu.
Thanks!
