I would certainly like to have a family sheet on Felix Fielding Cochran. Do
you have a list of his children? I have my Great-Grandmother Martha Ann
Cochran b. 1826 GA whose Father b. GA and Mother was a Campbell b. NC
supposedly. Miss Campbell's father did not want her to marry the Cochran
boy; and she was not allowed to see him until his death bed after marrying.
Campbell Co., GA area is where family members said they were from. I have
very little other to go on for this line. Martha m. in LA in 1858, d. AR
1898. Any help appreciated. Barbara

I was looking at the Miller Rolls for the Cherokee Nation recently and found
lots of Cochrans. Many of them were full blood. Does this mean that Cochran
is a Cherokee name. Can anyone tell me more about this? Has anyone
researched the Cherokee line of Cochrans? My Cochrans are John G. born 1800
in TN? and Eliza. born 1809 in MO?. Their children, according to 1850 census
of Independence Co Ar, were Lousia Holcomb b. 1821, John W. b. 1830, Eliz. B.
1835, William b. 1837, Andrew B. 1839, Franklin B. 1841, Sarah J. B. 1847 and
Zacariah T. B 1850. Living next door to John G. in census was Hannah Cochran
age 57 from GA and her son Hugh 17 from IL. John G. and 2 brothers came into
this area in Ar as early as 1830. The bro. were James and William. What
throws me is I had the impression the Cochrans came over from Ireland. How
could they be full Cherokee.
If you are asking the group for assistance may I suggest a few things
to help you get a response.
Title- include ALL surnames in CAPS, not just the one you are
researching. If your John Jones Married a Sally Smith, include both
JONES and SMITH in the Title. The other researcher may have a Sally
Smith who he does not know who she married. Also include a location and
date (Approximate if not exact. If John Jones and Sally Smith had a
child Mary Jones who was born in 1874, you can use 1870's as your date.
Also include at least the state they were in. If they moved from Va. to
Floyd Co., Ga. use the following Title "JONES, John & SMITH, Sally,
1870's VA> Floyd Co., GA
Hope this helps you find your dead relatives.
