Hi Cousins Theresa, Bob, Jan & Jana,
May I join the club? ;-)
Below is my direct line from William Cockerham. If you are interested I am
willing to swap GEDCOMs. I can give you all I have of the descendents of
William or limit it to a given number of generations, your choice.
Would you like the GEDCOM in the body of a letter or as an attachment? Some
people have problems with attachments so I try to ask first to avoid crashing
their computer.
If you would like to swap I would appreciate all of the decendents you are
willing to send and they may be either way, in the letter or attached.

Hi Don,
I sent the large SASE out to you this morning for the Cockerham Family History.
You should receive it Monday or Tuesday. If you find a source for the Cockerham
computer files I would appreciate a copy of those also. Can you go back to the
original source?
Thanks for making the data available.

Fellow Rooters,
I have recectly recieved the pension records for James Cockriel of
Grayson County. James enlisted in the Union Army and served with Co. A.
33rd Regiment of Kentucky Volunteers until his death Feb. 3rd 1863. A
son was conceived prior to his death and was born Mar. 15th 1863 to
Phebe Jane (Turner) Cockriel. This son, James Cockriel married
Gennettie Basham the 24th day of Dec. 1888.
The 1900 census of Warren County - Greencastle District reveals the
following
James Cockriel Mar 1863 37
Nettie Dec 1872 27
Mary P. Oct 1889 10
Henry W. Jul 1894 06
Allie P. Apr 1896 04
James is found in the 1910 census in Logan County working in a Sawmill.
The census incorrectly lists him as James Cochran. The Census is as
follows:
James Cochran 48
Nettie 39
Allie 14
Pearlie 04
Henry 16
Hughey 09
George 07
William - Nephew
Should anyone be interested in James Cochran listed in the Logan County
Census records send me an E-mail and I can provide more detail.

I just got back from Salt Lake City. I had heard about a hostell near the
library that was dormatory like but had private rooms. I thought what a
good idea, I'll be spending most of my time at the library. Well to make a
long story short, the place was a mess. It was dirty, noisey, and scarey.
I just wanted to let others know about this place so they won't make the
same mistake I did.
Oh, they won't give refunds or credits!

In your searches for SPENCER have you run across any SWAINS(SWAYNES)? A
Thomas SPENCER was arrested along with my wifes ancestor Richard SWAYNE in MA
in the mid 1600's for violating some Quaker law.

Has anyone seen anything on any of these?
Samuel COCHRAN s/o William & Jemima b. 1760 Va. d. 1842 Sumner Co. Tn.
married 10 Aug 1784 Bedford Co. Va. Sarah NORTHCUTT b. ca 1766 Va.
In a pension application Sarah NORTHCUTT COCHRAN states the following:
Rhoda CHITWOOD of Franklin Co. Va. - Sarah lived at Rhoda's father's house
efore she married Samuel. Sarah and Rhoda were cousins.
Barnett BLANKINSHIP (of Sumner Co. Tn. in 1846) said he lived one or two
miles (in Va.) from COCHRAN and about 3 miles from Sarah before they
married. Samuel had returned from the war 3 or 4 years before he was married
and Miss NORTHCUTT was a frequent vistor at his father's house before her
marriage. COCHRAN lived at the time of marriage near the bank of Blackwater
River, and Miss NORTHCUTT lived on the Henry County side and the marriage
may have been on that side of the river.
Sarah NORTHCUTT about one or two years before her marriage came on a visit
from some of the lower counties in Virginia to a relation of hers named
SHARP and finally lived there previous to her marriage.
Who is Sarah NORTHCUTT, how are these folks related to her?

It was kinda dumb of me to ask you to send a self addressed envelop and then
not tell you where to mail it! My address is:
Don Cochran
13622 Mallard Way

]
The document cost me $2.75 to copy.
I have four other files(80-100 pages)compilled by a Nellie Clifton dealing
with various varaiations of COCHRAN that start with the same Captain William
COCKERHAM. The files were dowenloaded into my computer, but some how I lost
them. I am currently trying to get someone to whom I sent the files to send
them back to me. If I am successful, and you are interested, I will send the
files to you.
What a wonderful Cochran list, but what a sad day for Billie
I still cannot find who sired great grandmother Lilly
She married Great Grandfather Ira Huffman on Christmas day 1881
In Summit County Ohio
They had children Edith Oessa, Maud, Hazel, Nellie and Ralph. Edith was my
grandmother.
She married Glenn Sanderson , Son of James Sanderson and Florence Ida
Hammer 31 May in Akron Ohio.
If anyone in Sumit County can find anything about these folks I would be
most grateful.
Hi Don,
I am very interested in getting a copy of the Cockerham Family History. Please
send me your address as soon as possible so that I may get the stamped envelope
out to you in the mail. I would also like to reimburse you for your costs if
that is acceptable. Your offer is very generous, but I can easily picture an
overwhelming responce.

Hi All,
James served in the Penninsular War and was awarded a land grant of 200
acres in Quebec for his services.
I'm looking for information info on his regiment the 94th Foot Regiment
