I have a stand alone Coburn file in my FTM from a Benjamin Colborne born
May 25, 1589 in Dedham, Norfolk, England but with a limited amount of data
on his descendants. Some of his descendants are in North Carolina but I
don't show any in Martin County.
Again Thanks,
James Sybert

Hi,
Thanks for the reply ... Yes, You identified the correct person. I do not
have the book of Coburn genealogy nearby but figured folks would know who I
meant. My wife is related to him and we have at times wondered if he was
English, Scott or ????

My Edward Coleburne (Coburn) that was born abt. 1618 in England. Died abt.
1712 in Concord, Middlesex County, MA.
Edward immigrated from London, England on October 8, 1635 on board the
'Defense.' Capt. Bostock arrived at Boston, Ocotober 30th. Amongst the
passengers, Edward Colborne, whose age is given as 17 years and Robert
Colburn, whose age is given as 28 years. They may have been brothers.
Edward's wife was Hannah Rolfe.
Children of Edward Colborne and Hannah Rolfe are:
1. Edward Colburn, born 1642; died 1675. Killed in an Indian raid.
2. John Colburn, born 1644, died 1695. Married Hannah Read.
3. Robert Colburn, born 1646, died 1701. Married Mary Bishop on March
16,1699.
4. Thomas Colburn, born 1648, died 1728. Married (1) Hannah Reffe: (2) Mary

8. Joseph Colburn, born June 16,1661, died 1733. Married Hannah_______
9. Lydia Colburn, born August 20, 1666.
I descend from Edwards' Great Great grandson, Major Asa Coburn. He was the
son of Andrew Coburn and Jane Allen. Born on Sept. 14, 1741 in Oxford Twp.,
Dudley, Worchester Co., MA. Married Mary McClure on April 8, 1762 in
Brookfield, Worchester Co., MA. Asa came to the Northwest Territory
(Marietta, Ohio) on August 17, 1788 with the 2nd set of settlers from the
Ohio Company Associates. He was one of three brothers who entered the
Colonial army at the opening of the Revolution. Andrew, the eldest was
killed at Bunker Hill. Abraham also lost his life in battle. Asa served as
captain, and after the recognition of the Government was retired with the
rank of major. All three belonged to the Mass. line. Asa died sometime
during the Indian war.

If you have me on your mailing list, it is in error. I have no wish
to receive Coburn research email. I would appreciate your removing
me from your lists.
Thank you.

Candace,
I am a Coburn (maiden name). My Coburn line comes from North Carolina and
Savannah, Harden County, TN. I have a lot of James, John, Headley Coburns.
We go back to George Coburn (Cockburn) who came over from Scotland in 1600
something.

Hi,
Just reading posts and wondered if you have knowledge of where Edward
Coburn, who was the first to come to America, came from ... do you even know his
nationality?
Appreciate a reply,
Dave

James,
Have you taken a look at James Coburn born in 1822 in Maysville, Mason, KY.
His parents were James W. Coburn b: 1790 in Lexington, Bourbon, KY and
Susannah Smith Doniphan b: 24 NOV 1792 in Near Tarts Falls, Ohio River.
I seem to have collected a whole slew of Coburns in the search for mine. I
have James as a son of the above, along with other children, but nothing
further on him. It leads me to believe he "disappeared" and then resurfaced
someplace else.
The Coburns i am most actively researching are the descendants of James L
and Mary. Most of their descendants during the 1700's are in Virginia,
Kentucky and North Carolina.
If you should find a link to this branch, please notify me and i will be
glad to share what I have.
Candace

I was unable to find any of those you named. The names are only indexed by
name only with no dates or family. So, this means searching through many
entries, hoping to come up with a match. As you can imagine there are many
with name John and Sarah. I searched those in the timeframe you gave and
found none. Sorry I couldn't have find any. I even looked under the spouses
names without success.

Dear Marion,
Thank You so much for your offer!!? I have been rather "stuck" trying to find out more about my Coburn ancestry.?
This is what I have:
John W. Coburn b.MA ?? married a? ??? Lydia Barret (not confirmed) (it could be wrong)? on Nov.24, 1807 in Charlestown, MA
Daughter Sarah W. Coburn (don't know what the W's stand for)? born: 09 Dec. 1811( Malden, Ma ?) .She married:
John Sargeant? on 30 May 1831 Boston, MA. Sarah and John settled in Chelsea, MA. ? I have loads on the Sargeant line, but no further back of any more info on Coburns.?
Someone told me that it could have also been Colburn. That it might go back to Scotland???
It's not much to go on. Thank you for trying!?

The Famous, the Infamous, the Lame - in your browser. Get the TMZ Toolbar Now!
These pages, 16, 17 & First, take you back to the first Coburn in the book.
The spelling of the name changed from Colburn to Coburn as you can see.
Being able to trace you Coburn's back that far in one big reading of the
Coburn book must be great news. In my 15 years of researching my family,
including Coburn's, I never got that lucky. Maybe, someone was able to send
me a family of two but never generations like this. I'm glad to be able to
do it and hope it helps you.

Yes, I'll be glad to do the lookup. You are in great luck as you family
seems to be traced way back in the book. In fact, there is a lot of info on
your line there.
With this email, I'm attaching the book Title Page, so you'll have a record
of the source, and Page 224 that has James Hopkins Coburn and his family.
His ancestry goes on back as you can see, from Jonathan to Edward.
Because often email will not send a lot of pages, I'll send them a few at a
time.

hi marion,
i tried your personal email and it was returned undeliverable, so... i'm
hoping you can help me by looking up on your Coburn CD and seeing if you
have anything on any Coburns from NY? the farthest back i've gotten is James
Hopkins Coburn born 1818 in NY (probably in the western part of the state).
then they moved to Erie County PA. any little thing would help.
thanks so much,
claudia coburn

It is possible these Coburn's are part of the "Harrison -Preston" branch.
These are probably relatives of some of our folks, but our branch split off in
the early 1800's and since that time are found in the Bluefield- Princeton
WV area and in Ky. Some of the descendants of James L Coburn (1690) and Mary
? who stayed in the Petersburg, Harrison Co, Virginia areas may have interest
in this.
