Hi, over time I have researched the Colbunre's, Colborne's, Coburn's etc.
and have a lot of info, but whether it contains any of your line, I can't
tell yet.
I have the CD that includes the book, "Descendants of Edward
Colburn/Coburn."
I'm attaching a few pages from the CD on the early Colburn/Coburn lines to
see if it helps you. I found no one named Earnest Coburn, or any derivatives
of that name, on the CD.
I'll be happy to look for more of your line on the CD and in my records if
you wish. Give me some names you want me to look for and I'll look. If you
have the book or the CD. you probably already have most anything I have. I
have a report I wrote that gives a lot of books and sources of info on these
folks. If you want it I'll send it. Unfortunately, many of these records
that used to be free on the internet can no longer be accessed without a
membership in Ancestry.com. So, I can't search them for you.
Hope some of this helps you.
Marion

Hi,
Since you are back to the early 1700's you must have given this research
some effort ... by chance did you ever discover what town Jane Coburn's
relatives came from in Europe? ( Edward Colborne * 1618 where he came from?)
In the published Colburn genealogy my wife is related to Earnest Coburn
*1902 and eighth generation removed from Edward.

No, I'm not related to those Colburn's. Mine are from the NY area and CT
before that. Jane Coburn (b. in 1700's) is the one I'm researching. Sorry I
can't offer any help.

Jerry,
I was able to locate Texana Spikes in one of the later census records in
Texas. Her father was born in Virginia, which i am sure you already knew.
This information supports a "hunch" that Texana is related to the
"Preston-Harrison" Coburns, given the fathers logical birth years as early 1800's. I'd
start looking at the descendants of James L Coburn, rather than the group from
Martin County NC or the Dracut Coburns. I have some further information if
you are interested, as these (the "James L" group) are "my" Coburns.

I am helping my cousin do research on her Coburn family and would like to know if anyone researching the Coburn family in Texas. Both of us are pretty much stumped. Here is what we know for sure:
Her grandmother was Rachel Texana Coburn, b. 29 Jul 1866 in TX and died 20 March 1919 in Montague Co., TX. She married 1. Robert David Rodden and 2. Felix Spikes.
Rachel had a sister named Margaret Jane Coburn, b. Jan 1859 in TX. Margaret married Isaac Willliams and was living in Van Zandt Co., TX in 1880. She then married Frank Cause. Rachel supposed was born and died in Wood Co., TX.
The only iffy connection is Will Coburn, b. abt 1829 in VA in the 1860 Shelby Co., TX census. We can find no records for this family anwhere in TX even though we know they lived there. We think this could be a connection because Will Coburn's wife was named Jane as was Margaret's middle name. That is pretty thin evidence, but it is all we have.
I sure would appreciate any help.
