Thanks, it has been a blind end for me. It is my wife's line. I have been to the grave site and I have his death record. Which lists father as Alfred and mother's name is about 4 letters on the death certificate which could be interpreted as a variety of things. Marriage record says of Wallingford. I have a feeling that his parents are actually Parish Coburn and mother Phylancia Brown. There is also a gap in their children about the correct time line.
This would put him in with your line.
Who knows who provided data for the death record. Interestingly his wife Sarah Lee is also a blind end even though her father is listed as Charles.
So it appears that although they we married in 1805 no children show up until 1826 and then 2 boys Joseph and Stephen. Although early census list several children on the form with Calvin prior to 1826. I think they had about 7 children total by piecing together census data and I think I know the names of two girls by tracing families in the area.
Calvin died about 1864 as I recall ( records not in front of me).
Any connections to an Alfred or Alpheus, which I believe is Scot's for Alfred, do not seem to match. Any Calvin births also do not seem to match with his records.
Thanks again.

Jim, I'm sorry that I don't have anything on Calvin Coburn. I looked in some
records I have of Wallingford without finding a Calvin that fits the 1782
birth.

Trudy,
My ancestors are Coburns, but if connected to yours the link goes way back,
I suppose. My gr-gr-gr-grandmother was Jane Coburn, (born in Feb. 8, 1771 in
Wallingford, New Haven County, CT, died as Jane Wheeler Swpt. 10, 1850 in
Wastenaw County, Michigan) to James Coburn (b. July 26, 1741, some old
records say, but very unlikely this date is correct, in Meriden, CT) to
unknown parents) and his third wife, Lydia Ellis. James Coburn and Lydia had
nine children, all born in Wallingford, CT. My gr-gr-gr-grandmother Jane
Coburn was Jonas Wheeler's second wife. They had many children, likely
including my gr-gr-grandfather Thomas Jefferson Wheeler (b. 1809) who
married Irvilla Gates.
Does any of this connect to yours or anyone else's Coburn's? I'd greatly
appreciate hearing from you or anyone who is related to this line or who can
furnish any information on the above Coburn's and on who might be the
parents of this James Coburn in my line.

Trudy,
My ancestors are Coburns, but if connected to yours the link goes way back,

Carol,
I have done Coburn research from George Cockburn (Coburn) (b. 1696, d. 1778
Martin Co., NC). If you think this might be part of your line, you can
e-mail me back and I can forward what I have. I have only researched my
"branches" but you might be able to tie into one of the other children or
grandchildren of George. Some say all Coburns are from George Cockburn. I'm not sure if
this is true. Just let me know if I can help.
