Hi Marion, the reason I ask is that I am deadended with Abel COBURN.
Hi - I have an Abel Coburn in my line. He was born in Chesterfield, NH,
in 1780 and died 15 January 1861 in Franklin, Vermont.
If I see anything that might fit with your Jane - I will let you know.
Jean
J. Coburn:
Unfortunately, I don't know the name of Jane's father or mother.
That is one thing I badly need to know, but find no trails leading
that way. All I know is Jane's approximate date of birth, based on
her age as stated in censuses. According to censuses she would have
been born in 1770. But, it has been reported that her tombstone
would place her birth in 1761, if whoever read it could actually
make the date out. So I suppose she was born sometime between
1760-1770.
I have found the following information in my "Genealogy of the Colburn-Coburn Families"
Lieut. Ephraim(4) Coburn (Ephraim (3) Thomas (2) Edward(1) ) Born in Dracut -- Dec. 9, 1733 died June 26, 1810; married Jane Coburn, dau. of Capt. Timothy Coburn, published Nov. 1, 1764, who was born Sept. 27, 1739, and died Feb. 27, 1796.
Children:
JANE - born March 18, 1766; d. June 26, 1838; published July 7, 1787; m. Coburn Blood March 4, 1788.
MARY - b. Nov. 13, 1772; never married ; d. April 7, 1843
EPHRAIM - b. Dec. 28, 1777; m. Hannah Varnum
SYBIL - b. Sept. 17, 1780; drowned Sept 12, 1803
The dates of birth and father's name are close ... could this be someone you are looking for ?
ANDREW COBURN - (Daniel (3) Robert (2) Edward (1) )
was born in Beverly (?) Nov. 7, 1708; married Jan 9, 1733 to Jane Allen of Sutton; they dwelt in Dudley, Mass.
Children:
Sarah, b. July 12, 1734; m April 4, 1755; Benjamin Webster
Andrew, b. March 1, 1736
Lucy, b. Oct. 3, 1738; m. Dec. 17, 1758 to John Webster
Asa, b. Sept 14, 1741
Amos, b. Sept. 17, 1744
Tabitha, b. Nov. 20, 1747
Jane, bl August 31, 1751; m. Samuel Allen of Guilford, Conn. intentions, May 17, 1773
Sybil, b. July 1 1754
Tabitha, b. March 16, 1758
Since there are two Tabithas, I am assuming that the first one died at birth or shortly after, .... this is all the information provided in my book, which was published in 1912 !!
Hope this helps ! Georgia Coburn Moore

Searching widely to find a Jane Coburn who married Jonas Wheeler in
about 1790-1792. This marriage could have taken place in many
different places, but I suspect it took place in one of the
following: (1) Ballston or Galway, NY area, (2) Pepperell or Dracut,
MA or (3) New Hampshire, perhaps in New Ipswich or Rindge. Still
other possibilities are Saratoga County, NY or any New England area.
Does anyone have any information on any Jane Coburn that might have
been born in these areas in or around 1770?
