My 3g grandfather was a Francis (Frank) Coburn/Colburn in this timeframe
and believe he had a brother named Michael. I suspect that he may have
been born Ireland.
Thanks for any help,

Hi - my earliest is ABEL COBURN, he was born in August of 1780 in Chesterfield,
New Hampshire, married Phebe (Sally) Dwinnell Coburn on March 14, 1808 in
Frankin, Vermont, and died January 15, 1861 in Franklin, Vermont. My
information stops on Abel's father. I haven't been able to get a name for that
one. Since I live in New Hampshire, am hoping to get up there. There is an old
cemetary in North Troy, Vermont, filled with Coburn's. I took pictures of the
gravestones years ago, but this year will write down the names and dates.
Also one of my former Coburn's (Betsey Dassance Coburn) was the child of
Experience Keep Dassance, who was the child of Major Leonard Keep (quite well
known in research-there was a restaurance named after him in Westmoreland, NH,
and Ruth Stone Keep. Leonard was born in October 1742 in Westford, Mass - but
died in January 1829 in Franklin VT.
I know from what my father has told me that he was one of two Coburn brothers
that came to America by ship in the 1600's - they were, I believe, on the ship
right after the Mayflower. I don't believe we were related to Edward.
I have to go to work, but if you would like me to send you other Coburn info I
have received, I would be happy to. Just let me know.
Hope we might be able to come up with something!

Nora, I think I may be able to help you a little later today or tomorrow. I am a Coburn and received a note months ago from someone researching Coburn and I think she was from New Zealand. I don't have time right now, but will check later in the next day or two. If I forget, please remind me at jcoburn(a)worldpath.net.

Dear listers, My name is Nora Handasyde, and I am new to the list. The Coburn I am researching is Emma Coburn. Born around 1822 in New Zealand. I know this lady was a Maori. As European settlement did not commence in New Zealand until much later I am wondering how her name came to be Coburn. I know there were sealers and whalers in the region around 1822 and so I am writing to this list. Can anyone help me?
Emma married(?) Thomas William Walker and travelled to Australia with him. They had 2 children Emma Walker born 1850 in Sydney and a son born 1852.
Thank-you
Nora.
