Hello list!
While my connection to the Coburn family is minimal, I thought the other
members of this list might appreciate seeing the information on the Coburn
family that is presented in the two-volume set of "Pompey, Our Town in
Profile." It was published in 1976 by the Township of Pompey, Pompey, NY.
Sylvia Shoebridge was the Chairman of the publication committee.
Text in [brackets] did not appear in the book.

Msg#2 - I tried sending this last night to the list and to you Kim, but
your email address is unheard of?

The post on the Stephen Coburn and Lewis families are certainly of
interest to
me.
I have a Francis Coburn/Colburn (bc1760-70) and a Catherine Bowman
(1774-1866)
born in PA, by 3g's. They had two sons, Michael b1797 and Benjamin D
Coburn bc
1790's. Benjamin's first son is named Benjamin Lewis Coburn; I do not
know the
origin of the middle name nor the initial D name.
Benjamin D married a Mrs. Rebecca Harvey, nee Putnam, bc1800. I had
suspected
that she perhaps came from a Putnam/Lewis marriage but I have been
unsuccessful
in finding her in any of the more known marriages in their area.
I have been working on my Bowman side for a long time and only in the
past month
decided to seek out some Coburn information along with another Coburn
researcher. We have pooled what we had and what I have come up with
since ...
A lot of very interesting information on Coburns, 1700's, which I would
be happy
to share with you to see if we can figure anything out.
Would Hannah Johnson be any relation to Capt Stephen Johnson, Boston, of
the
Brig Lexington which was captured by the British in 1777? There was a
'boy'
Francis Colburn/Coleburn in crew, born Philadelphia.
Do you have any clues as to where Stephen Coburn was born? Do you know
of any
other of their children? I have found a Stephen who is mentioned in a
Will of
Coleburns in Delaware, 1780's.
When did they go to NY? Their participation in the Rev War?
Since we will stray from Coburn's, it is probably best to take off list.
Thank you for this interesting post and look forward to your email.
