Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
What a neat addition to this mailing list! Wonder if we can figure out how
many descendents he has gathered over the years and how many are alive
today. Thank you for doing this. p.nesbit (Coble, Bennett, Tucker)

Tom, I'm beating these Coble bushes again to see if I can connect John Coble
(17 Aug 1771 NC - 8 Nov 1849 Springville Twp., Clark Co., IN) with Anthony
Coble or his descendants. John married Maria KIME. There are a couple of
(unproved, but possible) 'brothers' to John that might ring a bell-- David
Coble (22 Aug 1782 NC - 21 Apr 1871 Clark Co., IN) and Garb? Coble (c 1785
NC - ?) and his wife Betsy (1790 VA - ?). They had a child Abner. I have
heard of John's direct connection to Anthony, but with a different wife so I
think it was a different John. Then I thought of the possibility of him
being connected to Anthony through his son Johannes George "John" Coble
(1742-1813). One of his children was John, though I have nothing at all on
him. Johannes George "John" was born in PA but died in Guilford Co.- Orange
Co., NC area.
Anyway, any help or suggestions or hints of where to look that you or any of
the others on the list might have would be appreciated.
Happy Birthday, Antonius
Diana in SC

Does anyone know who this C. P Coble b 1902 in Arkansas, says his Father
was born in Illinois, and his Mother was born in Alabama, He married
Letha Brown b 1901 in Arkansas
They had children Clayton Vance Coble b 1920 and Florine b 1923 In
Arkansas
Thanks
Thank you for sharing these pictures. Tell us the area of Germany today
where you found Nordlingen. (near?) Did you go there specifically because
the Coble's lived there at one time? Did you visit Hoffenheim? Are they
close? I love the Medieval plan of the gated town. This must have been
most exciting. I love German town markets. Their vegetables and flowers
are so beautiful. Once on a market day near Hoffenheim, I happened to see a
small, old German lady dipping kraut from a large wooden barrel. This
reminded me of many visits I made to the kraut barrel with my small and
stooped grandmother, a Coble descendent. I went to speak with the lady.
She allowed me a picture and in spite of language differences, we shared our
love for the ancient art of kraut making. ptn

I do not know who his parents were all I have is he was here during the
1836 republic of Texas war. He received lots of land from the government
of Texas.
I have his marriage and he is on the 1850 census with his wife and
children.
I know there were Cobles in Ky at the time of his birth.
I have his land records from the Land office of Texas.
I have never gotten any response from anyone on this man
Thanks for asking. I wish I could connect him

Who was Adam's father and grandfather? Many left N.C. after the
Revolution
for cheap bounty land in Ky. (era 1785 to 1820) The Cobles seemed to
repeat
family given names through this generation. Brothers named their
children
after their brothers children. Can we guess that this Adam left Ky. for
Texas in the 1830's? Cheap land under the Mexican govt. was advertised
at
that time. Many left Tenn. for Texas in the 1840's. Wonder when he was
last mentioned in the U.S. census...probably 1830 or 1840. Just
guessing.
There would have been no Texas census until it became a state, so the
next
census would have been 1850. Always good to read Coble family history
on
this site which has been inactive for too long. Wonder who was Adam's
mother. She probably had one of the SEGuilford County, N.C. German
names.
Is it possible that this Adam is the son of an Adam who was the son of
the
Adam who came to SE Guilford probably in 1750's? I don't have my
family
lines with me,but those SE Guilford Cobles were all cousins and they
often
married cousins. ptn

went to Switzerland first and visited the town of Wengen in the Alps. The

the area. Beautiful, rugged country. We went up to Jung Frau mountain. It

My Samuel Cathy Coble was born 1829 in Tennessee and died before 1880 in
either Little River County or Sevier County, Arkansas. The 1880 Census
shows his wife, Elizabeth Jane Wright Willson Coble in Little River County,
living with her son James Earl Willson, widowed. There are no descendants
from John Hunter Coble to do DNA testing because none of the sons had
children. Samuel had a son by his first wife, Elizabeth Looney, in
Tishomingo Co., MS, named Richard Henry Coble who moved to Texas and owned
a boarding house when he died. I do have a picture of his wife. This is my
brick wall and have kinda put it on the back burner because I haven't been
able to find anything. I read all the mail on this site but it doesn't do
me much good until I find Samuel's father.

Hi Darrell,
Now I REALLY want you to get the test. I am also descended from Saddler
John Coble, but through a female line. My male line comes through Hans
George, brother of Anthony, George Adam and John. George Adam is the
father of Saddler John.
Here's the breakdown on the Y-DNA testing done by Family Tree DNA. They
offer a 12 marker "basic" test. That is the cheapest option. They also
offer a 37 marker and 67 marker test. The 67 is the most detailed. You
can start with the basic test and add on later if you have a close match
with someone else. That is what I did. It doesn't really cost any more
to do it in stages.
If you join a DNA project, like the Germany project, you get a price
reduction on your test. Projects are free to join. I THINK it is $20 off
but I couldn't get the page to load right now. You also get the option of
taking a 25 marker test which is what I would recomend. I had an exact
match at 12 markers with someone from Mexico. But when comparing 25
markers it was obvious we were not a close match at all.
I was not aware there was a 3rd Coble who had taken the test. I only knew
of myself and one other who only took the 12 marker test and would not
provide any information on his family other than that they were from NC.
He was offered a free upgrade on futher testing and refused. I also have
a very close match with someone who's last name is not Coble, but who does
have 18th/19th century Orange NC county ancestory.

You mentioned that you descend from Caspar Coble. Can you provide some

Thank you,

My Samuel Cathy Coble was born 1829 in Tennessee and died before 1880 in
either Little River County or Sevier County, Arkansas. The 1880 Census
shows his wife, Elizabeth Jane Wright Willson Coble in Little River
County,
living with her son James Earl Willson, widowed. There are no
descendants
from John Hunter Coble to do DNA testing because none of the sons had
children. Samuel had a son by his first wife, Elizabeth Looney, in
Tishomingo Co., MS, named Richard Henry Coble who moved to Texas
and owned
a boarding house when he died. I do have a picture of his wife. This
is my
brick wall and have kinda put it on the back burner because I haven't
been
able to find anything. I read all the mail on this site but it doesn't
do
me much good until I find Samuel's father.

Martin, contact Teresa Coble at Coble's Lutheran Church in SE Guilford
County. Maybe she will know some Cobles in that area who might be willing
to take the test. If all else fails, visit the church one Sunday and try to
talk someone into it. Good luck with finding someone to take the test.
With all the Coble's in Guilford County, surely some of them would be
willing. It doesn't hurt and you can learn so much from it. It is
definitely nice to have someone talking on this site again. p nesbit
