I wish Santa would send me a hint about the parentage of John Coble (1771 NC
-1849 Clark Co., IN). I think he had at least two brothers, David (1782
NC-1871 Clark Co., IN), who married Catherine Amick (1778 Guilford Co.,
NC-1849 Clark Co., IN) and Garb? (1785 NC- ? ) who married Betsy (1790 VA -

Many of us descend from the European line of:
Nicholaus Kobel (b. 1577 in Nordlingen, Germany),
Johann George Kobel, his son (b. 11/11/1602 in Nordlingen, Germany),
Nicholaus Bernhard Kobel, his son (b. 2/28/1627 in Nordlingen, Germany),
Johann George Kobel, his son (b. 10/3/1656 in Nordlingen, Germany).
As you may know these men were the basis of the eventual Coble line that came to America, settled in North Carolina and finally dispursed into Tennessee, Texas and all parts of the USA.
During the week of November 22, 2008 my wife and I visited Nordlingen, Germany to research this line and to get a prospective of where our ancestors lived. The town is quite unusual, to say the least, it is actually located in the center of a very huge crater that was formed millions of years ago when a meteorite hit the Earth! For many centuries it was thought that this miles-wide crater was formed by volcanic action but this has in recent years been disproven.
Anyway, I would like to make this offer to anyone researching the Coble/Kobel line: I have many photographs that I took in Nordlingen and brochures that I picked up while there. If you would like copies, at no cost, please drop me a line and I will send you copies via e-mail.
Best regards and happy family history hunting!
Jim Jackson
