I am researching the CARLOCK/CARELOCK family and their descendants. On page 5 of the book "History of the Carelocks," by Mary Lou MEDLIN, 1972, in a section of information which the author attributes largely to Neil Shannon CARLOCK of Mineral Wells, Texas, the following is included in the list of children for Samuel A. CARLOCK/CARELOCK, Sr., b. 1763, Mecklenburg Co., NC: "Another daughter married a Coble and moved to Texas. They had a son named Frank Coble."
I presently have no information in my database about a daughter of Samuel A. CARLOCK/CARELOCK marrying a COBLE. I do have the following sketchy information about COBLE-CARLOCK marriages, but no additional information about any of these individuals such as moving to Texas or having a son named Frank COBLE.
1. Margaret CARLOCK (d/o Frederick CARLOCK and Isabel CAROTHERS of Mecklenburg Co., NC) m. John COBLE and migrated to Marshall Co., MS. My only source for this information is an e-mail from one researcher in March of 2005.
2. William B. "Ben/Benny" CARLOCK (s/o James Wesley "Walker" CARLOCK and Cerena C. HAMILTON), b. Oct. 1878, AR; m. Frances T. "Tippie" COBLE, Oct. 1879, TN. Frances probably d. before the time of the 1910 census. They were the parents of Elmer A. CARLOCK, b. 15 Mar. 1903, AR; d. 20 Feb. 1995, possibly Maupin, Wasco Co., OR.
Any additional information about the above-mentioned COBLEs, their descendants, or any other COBLE-CARLOCK or COBLE-CARELOCK marriages would be greatly appreciated. For instance, can anyone identify the names of the parents of any of the above-mentioned COBLEs?

Good Lord. This is by far the most helpful response I've ever received, and I am very grateful. I think you hit it spot on.
Let me review this more carefully and, if I may, get back to you in the next few days.
Thank you.
Paul Coble

This family seems to match ... from the 1920 US Census in Detroit Ward 19, Wayne Co, Michigan, taken Jan 5, 1920:
Leroy Coble, age 32, born in Michgan, parents born in Ohio, occupation trolley car conductor.
Fannie L. Coble, wife, age 30, born MI, father born MI, mother born in Germany
One child, Leon John (could his nickname been Jack?), age 3.
The 1910 US Census in Lapeer Ward 1, Lapeer Co. MI, taken April 23, 1910 has:
Leroy R Coble, age 23, married 2 years, born MI, parents OH, occupation dry cleaner and place of work looks like "Bun Shop" (I doubt that's correct, but that's what it looks like)
Fannie Coble, age 20, she and father born MI, mother born Germany.
I searched the 1900 census for Leroy/Roy with his parents and found in Volinia, Cass Co, MI, taken June 16th & 18th 1900 (unfortunately the part where the family is is not clear, so not all information):
John Coble, born June 1850(?), he & parents born OH, occupation farmer
Dema(?) Coble, born Sep 1854(?), born OH, father VA, mother OH.
Children are Bert, William, Molly and Roy.
Looking for Fannie ... in the La Grange, Cass Co., MI 1900 census taken June 6, 1900:
Allen A Munson, born May 1845, age 55, married 38 years, born MI, parents born NY, occupation carpenter
Mary A Munson, born Feb 1846, age 54, gave birth to 10 children 9 still alive, she and parents born in Prussia (does not give an immigration date)
Daughter Myrtle, born Dec 1882, age 17
Daughter Fannie L., born Sept 1889, age 10
Son Thersa (?), born Sept 1885, age 14
I don't know if these are the people you are looking for, but the info seems to match for what you have posted.
Good luck!
Stephanie

I am of the Coble family line. My late father was Jack Coble, born in Michigan, and my paternal Grandfather, who was killed in the 1920s long before my birth, was named Roy Coble. His wife, my paternal Grandmother was, I believe, named Francis (Fanny) Munson (Coble). Grandmother passed away when my father was a toddler, which would have been in about 1918-1920, possibly of tuberculosis or in the Spanish flu pandemic.
After Grandfather's death, my father was raised by his Uncle Bert (Albert?) Coble in or near Dwagiac (sp?) Michigan. Uncle Bert passed away in Missouri in 1960-61.
I am seeking any information on the family line as this is the extent of the information I have.
Thanks very much.
Paul Coble
