Hello,
I'm looking for anyone who might have ancestors buried in Dininger Cemetery located in German (now Liberty) Township, Darke County, Ohio. All of the surnames above are found on headstones in the cemetery. I am sure that there are other burials there where the stones are no longer standing or are buried. The list of names above was compiled from the Spencer & Stephens photographic cemetery reading in 2005 and the Short & Bowers reading of 1964.
I visited this cemetery in June of 2006 and the condition had greatly deterioriated since my previous visit in June 2005. Many more stones were down, possibly due to a wind storm that had gone through the area this spring. Dininger is one of those cemeteries that is not too far gone and could be saved if we have enough interest in undertaking such a project. You can see a few photos of the cemetery that were taken in June 2005 at: http://gene_jane.home.insightbb.com/
There is further information available and headstone photographs at: http://album.dcoweb.org/dininger/index.htm . On that page, in addition to the Tom Midlam photographs, there is a link to the "Dininger Church Records" transcription which contains information on funerals performed by ministers Mayer and Benzin and a listing of marriages performed by ministers Althoff, Mayer, and Benzin. These files contain additional information on some of the burials and adds surnames that are not in the cemetery listing.
Additionally, Roger Spencer and Becky Stephens have photographed and published the Dininger Cemetery (Title: Beech Grove, Clark's Station, Dininger and Miller Cemeteries, Liberty Township, Darke County, Ohio). Luckily, these photos were taken before the latest damage befell the cemetery.
If you have family in the Dininger Cemetery, or know of others who might have, please pass this message on to them. I would really like to save this cemetery before it becomes too far gone to save. If you have interest in this cemetery, please contact [close up the spaces to use]: jane.torres @ insightbb.com
Thanks,
