Hello out there,
I see I have found another avenue to connect with. I am trying to look into my Coble connections in NC. I have been so fortunate to have heard from Jannine Coble Gregory and Jodie Gee in the past as well as checking the Rowan, Stanly, and Anson County pages. My greatgrandfather was William Franklin Coble 25 March 1877- 24 Oct 1938,who married Julia Morgan on Feb 24,1911 in Stanly Co,NC and is buried in Rowan Co,NC--son of David Coble III (1843-1895) and his wife Priscila E., grandson of David Coble II and Penny Harward ( he had 3 wives and 32 children from what I have read). I am the eldest grandchild of his youngest daughter Elmittie Coble Eanes. I would really like to find any family stories and or photos if there are any out there. I am really so amazed at all I've seen and read so far. I never imagined the Coble family would be so large. I am thrilled to see such hard work in researching has followed a family trail back as far as some have.

Message Board Post:
I am trying to find the Coble family researcher with the proof that the Coble family was directly related to George Washington -- THE George Washington who was the first President of the USA and was a general during the American Revolutionary War against Great Britian.
All I can remember is that he was a young man and he taught at an exclusive prep school "up east" I think...It was about a year ago when he e-mailed me and I regret I have since lost the correspondence which I printed out in hard copy when criminal mischief was committed against my house in a probate dispute.
If you have this information and you are a Coble researcher anyway, I am in communication with direct Coble family descendants. ( Our family married in to theirs)...
Please respond to this post if you have any information about this link to George Washington. Thank you!

I am looking for the Coble researcher who claimed that the Cobles were relted directly to George Washington -- THE President George Washington.
Do you know anything about this ancestral link?
I am indirectly related to the Cobles through marriage but I am corresponding with Coble descendants and family historians.

> I have two Elijah Bennett's in my line. The first settled in what is now
Guilford County, N.C. between 1750 and 1800. The second was his son who
continued to live in Guilford County and fathered a son Daniel Franklin
Bennett, June 1, 1844 and he died Oct. 4, 1919. I do not know where this
Bennett family originated or where the other members of the family settled,
but they all seem to have left the area except for Daniel Franklin and two
of his sisters. I find it interesting that they settled in an area
populated by German immigrants when they came to N.C. backcountry in the
latter part of the 18th century and inter-married with the Germans settlers
in that area...especially those of the Coble family. Bennett was a common
name in the settlement of the English Colony of Virginia. There is an
Elisha Bennett on the tax list in Hanover county, Va in 1789. So the family
of my Elisha Bennett disappeared out of Guilford and probably N.C. and I
have no idea where they went. M!
> any of the Cobles left and went to Tenn., Ky., Ohio, and Indiana. The
Scotch-Irish settlers in this area of backcountry, N.C. seem to migrate
south to S.C. and Georgia. From there they would go to Alabama and
Mississippi, etc. There was an historically established pattern of
settlement in the South in the first half of the 19th century that found
small family farmers clearing the land, cultivating the fields, selling to
larger farmers who were collecting acreage and moving on South to Ga. and
then West to Alabama, Miss,. etc. doing the same thing...clearing the land,
cultivating the land, selling out to larger land owners as they moved into
the area and bought established land that combined to make the large
plantations. I cannot find any information as to where my Bennett's first
settled in the British Colonies or where the other members of this family
went when they left Guilford County, N.C. Am afraid this is of no help to
you...the common thread being the name Elija!
> h or Elisha. If you have information on my Bennett's that may help me
over my stumbling blocks, I hope you will share. Thank you. p.nesbit

Coble happened to be buried in the Corinth Church Cemetery in Rowan Co, in
1938. He also has a daughter there,Lillie Mae Coble buried aprox 1931-1934.
He was supposed to have been from Stanly Co, I found him living in Anson Co
as a young toddler in his parents household, David Coble III and his wife
Priscilla in 1880. I know that he married my greatgrandmother Julia Lindy
Morgan in Stanly Co, but I am not totally sure where she was originally
from. Julia was supposed to have also been from Stanly Co, but her youngest
daughter Elmittie Coble was supposed to have been born in Concord,NC aprox
1925. During my search I was told that Corinth Church was near Salisbury in
a town called Woodleaf possibly. Anyone familiar out there with it? Is there
a possibility that the Stanly Co Morgans might have been from Rowan Co? Is
anyone out there familiar with a Mike Giles Morgan and an Eliza or Liza W.

were in the Obit for William , any bells ringing there? Also is there an
area called Erlanger anywhere around there ( Lilly/Lily was supposed to have
died near Erlanger) ? Just thought I'd ask...... Mary

My email address has changed from aol.com to zoominternet.net
I am still looking for any info on my father and his family. He never told us about his parents and only mentioned that he had a sister named Ethel and that her married name was West. If anyone has any info on her family, please contact me.
