I have just discovered a very informative and unusual ships list website. It
is unusual because very often along side the emigrants name you might find
his European origins, wife's maiden name and the names and ages of his
children and where he settled once in America. You are also encouraged to
submit any information that you have to be included.

I recently purchased a Victorian studio photograph of a handsome young man at an antique shop in Milton, Wisconsin. I enjoy buying lovely old pictures like these in antique shops (with names on the back and photographer’s locations on the front) and locating descendants/family members so that I can re-unite the pictures, for only my costs, with people who will treasure them
The name on the photo is “Fred Coble”. The picture was taken by a professional photographer named “Jenks Brothers, Freeport, IL”. Freeport is in Stephenson Co. Fred appears to be a tall young man, approximately age 20-22 +or- a few years, and he has dark hair. He is cleanshaven, and wears a three piece suit.
It is my estimate that the photo was taken in about 1900-1910, based on the type of photo and coloring. The picture is an original and is an oval, on 5-1/4” x 7-1/4” heavy card stock, as was typical during that time period. It is in excellent condition.
If Fred is in your family or if you can relate to the a Fred Coble being in Stephenson Co., IL in about that time frame, please Email me directly at margerice(a)prodigy.net.
