I emailed the Society of Genealogists library(a)sog.org.uk for information regarding the following typed transcripts:
St. Peter in Thanet: C 1727-1836, M 1754-1837, Banns 1754-93, B 1778-1837; vol. 2
Located at: Library - Kent shelves KE/R 170
St. Peter in Thanet: CMB 1582-1726/7; misc. notes; vol. 1
Located at: Library - Kent shelves KE/R 169
This is what they replied:
"As these are indexed, a search can be made & copy can be sent to you on receipt of the library search/copy fee of 10 pounds (8 pounds for members). Payment can be made in sterling or by Visa/Mastercard.
Please enclose a postal address where the results may be sent. You may also be asked to complete and return a copyright declaration form which will be enclosed with the results.
I would also suggest that it might be worthwhile checking the registers of the other two parishes in Thanet: St. Lawrence, Thanet and Minster in Thanet, as your family may have one or all of these churches at one time or other.
While we have copies of the parish registers for the above-mentioned two parishes, these are unindexed and on microfiche and microfilm so I regret the Society does not have the resources to examine all this material for you but you are welcome to visit the library yourself or engage a record agent to make searches on your behalf.
The records of CMB 1582-1777 have been filmed by the Mormons and should be available to you at your nearest Mormon Family History Centre in Canada/USA."
I've added the above reply in the hopes that it may be of benefit to others who are researching the Cobhams as well.
Happy researching.. Shirley Coneen Olfert
