Just realized there were new postings to this thread! I am redoing my mother's tree this year so I am back on this family. So glad there is new interest! AND I'm heading over to Facebook now to join the Cobbs group! I have a Tidewater Virginia Group on FB that might also be of interest:. https://www.facebook.com/groups/TVFDescendants/ Hopefully we can all learn some new things!
Anne

You are correct...I don't live near a library that carries such materials and last month when I tried to have a film sent to our little local library from Virginia I was told I could have it sent but they have nothing to view it with and it couldn't leave the library so I'm of out of luck...I had to have the Virginia Library copy Edmond Cobbs will and send it to me and go on a hope and a prayer that it listed Waddy as his son...It did thank goodness...I can order books, just not films. I will look into the books you have listed. I have searched for a will for John Cobbs to no avail so this may be a lead...Thank you
Also, I would like to mention.....As of yesterday I have started a Cobb family genealogy page on face book...The McClees page I belong to has helped me tremendously and am hoping the Cobb page will do the same for some...If you are interested please look it up ( COBB/S Family Genealogy - Descendants of AMBROSE COBBS 1603 - 1656 ) I will be posting documents, Pictures and family history of what I have and hope other Cobb descendants do the same...It's only 1 day old so there isn't much there but I'll be posting on my next day off
Thank you again
Paula

Virginia Wills and Administrations by C. Torrence has helped me locate some wills to 1800. There is another series from 1800 onward by another author. Maybe you aren't near a library that carries such material. I found the wills on microfilm when at SLC Family History Library and made copies. These films can be ordered online at familysearch.org for rental and delivered to a local family history center for viewing and copying. I live in Denver, CO.
I'll also look for Vinckler Cobb's will. I'm curious now and haven't explored this connection.
Sandy

Edmond Cobbs is my husband, John Cobb, 5th G. Grandfather...Waddy being his 4th and Lindsay being his 3rd....I have found Quaker records on Waddy and Lindsay but I have yet to find any on Edmond or Edmonds father John Cobbs...That's not saying they don't exist, just that I haven't found them....You say your "Obsession will not stop"....If you only knew how much we have in common on this...lol...It has become my obsession to give my husband his family back....I'm going to research the Quaker question and if I find anything I will post it here...

I just found this conversation. My husband descends from Pleasant Cobbs, son of Robert and Mary (Terrell) Cobbs who took his family to Columbiana Co, OH and is documented there in Hinshaw's Quaker Encyclopedia (OH). Pleasant is documented son of Robert and Mary in Hinshaw's Quaker Encylopedia (VA). We spent 2 wks in SLC at FHL this past New Years researching all the VA Cobbs we could find..trying to discover and prove Robt's parents. Our obsession will not stop. Looking at will of Samuel Cobbs (d 1758, Louisa Co) naming son Robt and property on Blackwater Creek that later Robt and Mary Cobbs of Caroline Co sell. Samuel also names his brothers Edmund and John Cobbs giving them land. Edmund Cobbs had a son Waddy Cobbs md Margaret Gwatkney and at least 2 of their kids (Lewis and Linsey) are in Mahoning Co, OH records in Hinshaw Quaker Encyclopedia (OH) so was Edmund Cobbs descendants Quakers?
