One must exercise a great deal of caution when researching the Cobbs of early Bedford Co, VA. I call it the "Proximity Phenomena" when UN-RELATED families with the same name lived in proximity to each other at the same time. Such is the case in Bedford County. There were two Cobb families there simultaneously.
The first group were the descendants of Ambrose Cobb of York County (my line).
The second group were from the northern part of Virginia. If memory serves, the area around Caroline County. This line produced the man who married Mary Terrell. Also if memory serves, this line migrated from Bedford County to Ohio.

Robert Cobbs (b) 1660 in York Virginia and (d) Sep. 1727 and
married Rebecca Vinkler had his will proved in York County
Virginia on September 18, 1727 and in this will clearly
states Vinkler as his son and an executor. I would contact
the York County Library archives and talk to them about
obtaining a copy of Roberts will which will prove the
lineage between Robert and Vinkler...Next, to prove the
lineage between Vinkler Cobbs and his son Robert Cobbs (b)
1735 in Bedford Co. Virginia and married Mary Terrell I
would contact the Hanover Co. Virginia archives and see if
they can't help you find out if Vinkler had a will. If he
did, I'm sure Robert will be listed as his son. The Quaker
record you have stating Robert and Mary are married is
considered a legal document considering church records are
about the only thing to go by when going back this far....I
know what you're going through trying to figure out all
these Cobbs....I just did this with my husbands 5th G.
Grandfather,!
Edmond Cobbs (son of John Cobbs and Susannah
Addison). It's taken me years but I now have legal
documentation proving the lineage from my husband, John T.
Cobb, back to Edmond Cobbs...Now, It's time for a trip to
Virginia to do the rest..Just for the record...The Bedford
Co. Virginia Library Archives Dept. were AMAZING in helping
me with my search for Edmond Cobbs ."WHEN" I should happen
to go, if you haven't found answers, I would be more than
happy to help you in your search any way I can....You're
more than welcome to contact me through email, mc_irish_meemah(a)yahoo.com
or through here on Ancestry....Although different lines,
there is a family line here between us...John Cobbs (my
husband's line) and Vinkler Cobbs (your line) were brothers
