Hi Sharon,
You posted this so long ago-I hope you see my reply. I've been searching for this family for a long time too, and they are very hard to 'find'.
However, I do have some info for you-I hope it helps.
I found this:
William Alfred Shoemaker and Mary C Belle Shoemaker are buried in Trinity Methodist Cememtery, Woodwardville, Anne Arundel county, Maryland. The tombstone for William states: born Mar 8, 1854 and died Oct 19, 1902 'He is not dead, but sleeping'. For Mary the tombstone reads that she was born Dec 2, 1861 and died Sept 12, 1910 'Safe in the arms of Jesus'.
I did also find in the 1900 census-indexed as 'Showmaker' a family that I believe to be 'ours'. Not knowing if you will see this, I'll just ask you to contact me if you want this information, and I'll be glad to share.
Pat.

I am a descendant of Virginian Ambrose Cobbs through his descendants, Robert I, Robert II, John, Samuel, and Robert. There may have been many Cobbs by the name of Ambrose. My Ambrose was said to be of Holland origin with his exact emigration to New Orleans unknown. Ambrose took up land in Virginia in 1635. This explains why he did not arrive in Virginia by a ship from the old country. My source for this is my aunt's book.
