Maurice may be Joy's brother. I didn't find a listing for Joy (she may be married), but if Maurice is her brother he probably knows where she is.
Best of luck. I believe our families in North Carolina may have been affiliated. My mom was a Cobb; her family dropped the "s" by the time they left North Carolina for Tennessee.

Looking for my father's family. My grandmother was named Cleo Cobbs, I last remember her living in Harlem, NY. She had a son (My father) Charles Cobbs, he is probably in his 50's if he is still living. He had a daughter named Joy. I don't know her last name but would like to hear from her or anyone who might be related this family.

I am interested in the Jesse Cobbs who married Lockey Tabb, daughter of Thomas Tabb of Cumberland County, Virginia. I suspect his father may have been John Cobbs who appears in Cumberland County VA in 1782 tax list. Thomas Tabb's wife was Lockey Langhorne, daughter of John Langhorne, 3rd and Mary Rice, daughter of Francis Rice Jr. of Warwick County, Virginia.
Thomas Tabb was at one time sheriff in Amelia or Prince Edward County, VA and about 1749 or so was sent to arrest Francis Rice (whom we feel is son of Francis Jr.), but couldn't find him. What is interesting is that Col. Samuel Cobbs of Amelia County, Virginia, in his will dated 1757, gave a lifetime heir to Francis Rice and his wife to his 190 acre plantation in Prince Edward County, VA, upon the condition that after their deaths it was to go to his grandson.
I am wondering if perhaps Francis Rice Jr's wife Mary may have been a sister to Samuel Cobbs? I know these Cobbs's were from York County, Virginia, as were the Langhorne's and the Hansfords. The McGehee's figure into these folks along with the Bookers too.. So hope to be able to find something that will reveal why Samuel Cobbs would have given a lifetime heir to Francis Rice!
Thanks,
Willie Smith
