I hope someone can help. I am looking for the parents of John Cobbs br. 1790-1800. He married Nancy Haynes. Died between 1840-1850. He and Nancy were in Bedford Virginia on the 1840 census. After looking at the great Cobb websight I thought someone might connect and point me in the right direction. I have been unsuccessful in getting a death certificate for John. His son Henry br. abt. 1832 is my line. There were other children but I don't know who they were. Henry married Matilda Hawkins in Bedford, VA. Any help would be appreciated. Chris

I am trying to help a friend find her Cobb ancestors.
I hope someone can lead me in the right direction on John Cobbs/Cobb br between 1880-1890. He married Nancy Haynes in 1822. They were in Bedford Co., VA on the 1840 census. There were five children, two boys and three girls listed on this census. John must have died before 1850 as he is not on the 1850 census and Virginia has been unable to find death certificate for him.
The youngest boy would have been Henry Cobbs that married Matilda Hawkins, which is the line I followed. Their children used the name 'Cobb' later instead of Cobbs..
Henry's daughter Anna married Clinton Davis in Missouri.
After having searched the Cobb websight, I don't think I will live long enough to find John's parents.... !!
Any help on this family would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Chris
