This is a message that I posted on the COBB Board. It also belongs on the COBBS board, so I'm posting a copy here. Please let me know if anyone can help me verify this information. I've only been doing Cobbs research for less than a week and have only utilized internet resources and an old copied famly bible list so far.
Thanks,
Eric Wade Cobbs

Carleen,
The only proof that Thomas Sr. was Thomas Cobbs lll of Ambrose's line is found at the following website. I assume that the information is from public records, but I can not be certain of that. I do however thank those that have made this information available to all.
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cobb/amb/d0000/g0000015.html#I904
On this website, I put the following pieces together. My old bible account [a copied list and not the original bible] that listed "Thomas Cobbs, Sr b. 20 Feb 1738" and that of "Mary, my wife b. 17 Apr 1738. Also in the bible are the birthdates of the children Lewis, Charles, John, Susannah, Thomas, James, David, Moses, Jesse, and William T. Cobbs who is my GGGGF. and was born in 1783. Also listed in this bible account are the death dates of "Mary Cobbs, My wife d. 19 Nov. 1807" and "Thomas Cobbs d. 30 Jan 1826" among many other birth and death dates.
The preceding bible information reflects the above website with the exception that the website lists his birth date of Thomas lll as 1737 instead of 1738 as my record shows, so I have concluded, possibly naively that I am talking about the same person.
A word of caution, I don't have this bible in my possession and only have a type written account of the lists evidently compiled by a B.S.B. I don’t know if it is a record of an original bible belonging to Thomas lll or one that was transcribed from earlier sources. I would love to find out though and look forward to trading some pictures with you in the future.
Your cousin,
Eric Wade Cobbs

James T. Cobbs to Arkansas in 1876/8
-Looking for my Great uncle's line that moved to Arkansas. James T. Cobbs was the son of William Thomas Cobbs (1818), Son of Willam Tillis Cobbs (1783) son of Thomas Cobbs lll (1738) We also have access to Thomas lll's personal bible. Would also like to know what the middle initial "T" in James T. Cobbs stands for.
Thanks!,
Eric Wade Cobbs
