I am transcribing a cemetery in McLennan County, Texas - and am hoping someone can help me replace the data on some of the damages stones. This cemetery was located several years ago by City of Waco crews that were cleaning out "a vacant lot" to place it for sale -- long story short, one of the earlier burials in this area was found in the cemetery.
I have the cemetery online at our County TXGenWeb site:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~txmclenn/cobbswalker.htm
Here are the Cobbs listed:
COBBS Missouri V. 04/19/1852 12/09/1853 First burial at the cemetery, she was the infant daughter of County Judge John Allen Cobbs.
COBBS Eleanor 08/09/1811 03/31/1884 wife of John Allen Cobbs
COBBS John Allen 11/17/1804 03/19/1876 born in Kanawha County, VA; Settled in Missouri in 1826; to Texas in 1853. Former County Judge
COBBS Henry A. 07/02/1858 08/10/1864
There are Walkers, Guytons and Standefer's listed, as well. I am hoping this helps someone find there "missing link".
I think Joseph Cleaver Standefer's mother was a Cleaver and was sister to Eleanor Cleaver Cobbs, who was married to Former County Judge John Allen Cobbs. The cemetery was started in 1853 upon the death of their daughter, Missouri V. Cobbs.
Happy hunting!
