I was doing some "achuff" research and came across a reference to a William and Lena (Seifert) Cobb, their son Frank Cobb b. 7 Jan 1884 in Walton, NJ,
lived in Royersford at 534 Walnut St and worked for the Royersford Trust Co. He married Miriam Tyson who 7 Dec 1922. He was still living in 1923.
Source: History of Montgomery County, PA by Clifton S. Hunsicker. Lewis Historical Publishing Co, New York and Chicago, 1923.
I found a reference hidden in the 3 volumes and biographies to an Elizabeth Achuff (married to a William Rupert) born before 1780 so I kept looking and found the Cobb info.
Hello Fellow Cobbe/Cobbs/Cobb and Cob Researchers. Hi B.J. I agree. We found one of our great-grandpop's listed as a COB... so consider all od the possibilities.
Even in today's time... I get COBBS, COBS, COB, KOLB and KOBB often. We will have to check these as well.
It pays to run your surnames through the Soundex to see all of the possibilities. Remember that many of the early settlers, and that included those logging in the immigrants and those taking the census were not always great spellers.
Hope this helps.
Peace and blessings.

I've seen the name spelled in census records as Cob, Colb (even people
that I know it's Cobb or Cobbs). So don't be detered by the spelling.
Check the other statistics and info as a double check.
