Now that we have been included on this
page. I would be fun and helpful if we could exchange
information.

I am here.
Edward (Thomas?) Cobb, b. ca 1787, d. after 1850. Richland County, South Carolina.
He and his wife, Mary Van Dora Cole Cobb (caa 1804-after 1880), had five children:
Sarah (m. Wlm. Miles)
Eliz. (m. Wlm. Martin)
Thomas Archibald Cobb Sr. (m. Anne Leminda Fetner)
and Jesse DeBruhl Cobb (m. Rebecca Fetner).
I am interested in more concrete information on Edward Cobb and his wife Mary. Who is his father? Is it Hartwell E. H. Cobb? The line might be out of Pitt County, NC.

Several yrs ago my uncle took part in a Cobb DNA test and it showed our line is descended from the immigrant Ambrose Cobb/s. Recently he and several other of our Cobb family did the DNA test on Ancestry. We have pages of info on people who match each of us but we can't figure out who these folks are or how they connect to each of us. /Where do we go from here?Virginia Greene, grand dau of James Claud Cobb; gr-granddau of James Pulaski Cobb and wife Missouri Ann (nee Sullivan). Our Cobb line was mainly in TN, middle section of TN, for many years. Now we are everywhere but primarily in the southern part of the US.
We have traced our line back to Jesse Cobb and his wife Nancy Mullins who married in 1820 in Grainger Co TN. Does any of this fit your particular Cobb family? Please let us know either on cobb(a)rootsweb.com or to me directly vcgreene(a)att.net.Thanks.Virginia Greene
All of my Cobb relatives are from the south -- mostly TN but also MO, AR, and most of the states south of TN. Sorry I can't help.Virginia Greene, Cobb researcher vcgreene(a)att.net

Alexis or Alexander Cobb (my great-grandfather) was born at Bedford, OH in 1829 and died at Hesperia, MI in 1915. In census records he indicates his father was born in MA and his mother in CT. I did find a Varney or Barney Cobb at Bedford in the 1830 census and in MA in the 1820 census. I have been unable to trace the family any further.

End of COBB Digest, Vol 12, Issue 2
***********************************
I am trying to locate the parent(s) of the following Cobb people who are in the Chenango County area in the 1830s to 1850s. The following Cobb females are sisters: Marilla, Aseneth, and Julia. Marilla and Aseneth married brothers with surname Allcott in Chenango County. Sister Julia lived with one or other of her sisters through 1880s. Another Cobb, Lewis born circa 1830 in New York and married Lydia Bartholomew in Otsego Co., NY. They located to Wisconsin. Lucretia Cobb, born 1819 in Chenango Co, married Alonzo Burgess around 1840. They moved briefly to Pennsylvania and then on to Wisconsin. Lucretia and Alonzo are my great grandparents. I believe all these Cobbs may be related and family connections go back to Vermont or Massachusetts prior to New York and to New York late 1700 to early 1800.
