Hi Gail
I don't think that Eliza Victoria Loden died in 1905. My Greatgrandmother, Emma Jane Cobb, would take my Grandmother Estelle to visit her via train. My Grandmother was born in 1905. Very little is known about Victoria throughout the family. I have tried finding her grave in Toccoa, Ga. at the city cemetery. I must get out and search church cemeteries when I get the opportunity. My understanding is that Victoria was being looked after by her brother Lawrence after Oconee was admitted to Milledgeville mental facility. I have a bit of personal information about her that doesn't include any dates. If there is anything specific I can help with let me know.

Stephanie,
My paper trail says he is connected to the Henry "the Elder" line, but a DNA test would be interesting both to prove that research, and because we have only one other test from Henry's son Henry's descendants.

Is this the only Cobb line that you have? Do you have a living Cobb male relative that you could have tested via DNA?
If so, you could find out which Cobb group you belong to pretty quickly, and someone in the group may have more info:

I've run into a brick wall here. I have him as my great,great-grandfather and the father of five children ( Wilford H Cobb 1909 - 1998, Marie Cobb 1911 - , Harold P Cobb 1913 -, Max Clyde Cobb 1914 -, and Irvin S Cobb 1920-). His wife was Carrie L Pickens (Caroline Lucinda Pickens). He was born in Kuttaws KY about 1887. In his draft records, and most records I find, the Edward gets dropped pretty soon. I can find no records of him in his family of origin. I am finding a Henry Cobb who was born in 1886 in the family of Samuel Cobb and Sarah Isabelle Sasser and in the 1910 census reports I see that Samuel Cobb is his stepfather and digging through the pedigree I find his father (James Henry JH Cobb) was almost 20 years younger than Samuel Cobb.
Seeing those initials of the James Henry JH Cobb, makes me wonder if he could be the father of my Henry Cobb.
Anything, anyone?

Janet, hi.
Have you seen the Cobb & Cobbs website hosted by Rootsweb?
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cobb/
At this point I would characterize it as a One Name Study set up by descendants of English and Scottish emigrants to America, but we really want to grow it to include more Cobbs from the United Kingdom.
Right now it looks like we have just found people from Kent and Dorset, but we would love to start a Somerset section.
I can trace my own ancestors back to London circa 1630, but as far as I know they could have been from from Somerset!
In fact, the name Benjamin Cobb runs in my line: http://tinyurl.com/66bt48o
When was your Benjamin born and when did he get married? Do you know?
Best regards,
Stephanie

In my previous posting regarding the connection between Colonial Virginia
and the church of St Bartholomew the Great in Smithfield, right outside of
London, England I mistakenly gave the tinyurl of the baptism of Benjamin
Cobb for the second time instead of correctly giving the one for Dudley
DIGGES: http://tinyurl.com/4csw65y
Here is the full URL, just in case:
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/igi/individual_record.asp?recid=50...<http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/igi/individual_record.asp?recid=50...>
Thus far I have found TWO typos in my original posting on this subject... I
have to say I was pretty excited by the discovery!
The funny thing is that I would have been even more excited at the time if I
would have known at that point that Robert Rich, 2nd Earl of Warwick (5 June
1587 – 19 April 1658) was the proprietor of Richneck Plantation in Virginia,
as after the Reformation the lands of the Priory of St Bartholomew were
granted to his ancestor, Sir Richard Rich, 1st Baron Rich (1496/7 – 12 June
1567).
Apparently, Edward Digges' successor as governor of Virginia, Samuel
Edwards' family's plantation, Mathews Manor, later known as
Denbigh</wiki/Denbigh,_Virginia>,
was in what later became Warwick County, and that is what led me back to the
Earl of Warwick.
I have known for quite a while that St Bartholomew fell into the hands of
the Rich family, but apparently the Baron Rich title stopped being used
after the Earldom was conferred in 1618, and I did not put two and two
together until just now.
Best regards,
Stephanie

Message Board Post:
Hello,
Looking for an ancestral connection for Reuben Cobb, b. 9 Apr 1795, New Hampshire; d. 17 Apr 1881, Webster, Monroe Co., NY. He married Martha "Patty" Robb, b. abt 1795, New Hampshire, d. bet Oct. 1860 - July 1870 (censuses). Children: Jane Ann Cobb, Lucy Cobb, Calvin R. Cobb (b. Nov 1830, Webster, NY), Elizabeth "Betsy" Cobb (b. 2 Mar 1833 Webster, NY) and Martha Cobb (Jan. 1836).
Jane Ann Cobb (b. bef 1831, d. bef 1854) and Elizabeth "Betsy" Cobb (2 Mar 1833 - 29 Jan 1918) married consecutively a Chauncey Thompson (1824-1913). Martha Cobb (Jan 1836 - aft June 1900 (census)) married a (Philander?) Barrett, who died bef 1880 census. Calvin R. Cobb married a Sarah (LNU).
In 1820 census, Reuben Cobb was in Penfield, Monroe Co., NY.; in 1830, Reuben Cobb and family were still there in Penfield. In 1830, Penfield, NY there was also a family for Andrew Robbs and Andrew Robb; Martha Robb's father might be Andrew Robb(s). The 1850 census has a William Robb (b. 1761) living with them; he may have been an uncle (or her father?). From 1840 and later, Reuben and Martha Cobb's family and descendants were in Webster, NY.
Censuses indicate Reuben Cobb's parents were born in New Hampshire; likely Martha Robb's parents were also from there.
Does anyone have a connection to Reuben Cobb's families or have other data supporting Reuben Cobb's parentage? It is likely a Taunton or Barnstable family line. Please note I am not directly connected to be involved in DNA testing to determine which Cobb family line but hope someone has a connection.
Regards,
Paul Cobb,
File Manager, Barnstable and Boston lines

Yesterday, I sent out the following post:
>An interesting piece of history is that, according to Wikipedia, the
>great-grandfather of Edward DIGGES, Leonard DIGGES, lost his lands
>(although not his head) for participating in Wyatt's Rebellion of
>1554, instigated by Thomas DIGGES the Younger, the grandfather of Sir Francis WYATT!
However, that was not correct. What I should have said was that,
according to Wikipedia, the great-grandfather of Edward DIGGES,
Leonard DIGGES, lost his lands (although not his head) for
participating in Wyatt's Rebellion of 1554, instigated by Thomas WYATT
the Younger, the grandfather of Sir Francis WYATT!
Hopefully the text is more readable now, as well as correct.
My apologies for the error.
Best regards,
Stephanie
