That is a lot of info that I did not know. I have been told my whole life that there is Cherokee blood from this part of the family. It would be interesting to find out. Did you do the DNA testing? I would think that it would show up in the DNA results...? I will email soon and no I have no idea what book you are talking about.

Ariel Cobb is probably from the Taunton Cobb line. It appears he is the son of Nathaniel and Lois (Drake) Cobb, born in CT. Nathaniel was born in Taunton and moved to CT. This should be a good place to start anyway.

Jan,
Do you have the book that Virginia Greene published?
She has done a good job with her Cobb family line.
In her book she does mention she had thought she was part Indian. She does have a picture of Nancy and to me she does not look Indian.
Now, as I said Jesse Cobb was my Franky Cobb's brother.
If there is any Indian blood, it would be from Nancy's side of the family.
On the marriage record found in Grainger Co, Tenn for Jan 30th 1821 between Jesse Cobb and Nancy, it says Nancy Mullins. My thoughts on this is she had married before to a Mullins or her maiden name is Mullins.
Nancy has given us a mystery to work with.
The DNA shows Jackson K. Cobb was a Mullins by blood.
My Thomas R. Mullins was born 1777 in Virginia and could have married before, and Franky Cobb could be his 2nd marriage and Nancy could easily be Thomas R. Mullins daughter, or it could be like this, Thomas R. Mullins father was Joseph Mullins and wife was Mary, Joseph could be Nancy's father.
Thomas R. Mullins married Franky Cobb in 1811 in Grainger Co, Tenn.
Both Nancy Cobb and Thomas R. Mullins are in the same place at the same time period for 1830.
Nancy Mary born 1831 married Joel Mullins.
This Joel goes back to Joel Mullins born 1771, who was brother to Thomas Richardson Mullins who md Franky Cobb.
This I found through DNA results.
Also, Jackson K. Cobb md 1st Sarah Hasty.
Thomas R. Mullins son Anderson Mullins md Louisa Carter the daughter of George W. Carter and Nancy Hasty, the daughter of Benjamin and Mary Warren Hasty.
There is a possibility that you have been spending many hours looking for Indian heritage that don't exist.
But, who knows. Have you been in contact with Virginia before? She is a wonderful lady and still active with her genealogy.
If you would like to discuss this mystery, then get with me at the following e-mail address:

My mothers maiden name was Barbara Considine.
Her mothers maiden name was Dorothy Cobb. I knew her well.
My understanding is that she was born in the Falkland islands. The date of her birth is available to me -though not to hand.
My understanding is that her father and her uncle were involved in the early days of the settlement of the Falkland islands and may have been directors of that company.
Any information about that family would be welcome.

Mr. Meyers,
I have two different Ariel Cobb in my databases.
The first one born 28 Oct. 1808 in CT married to Mary A. Cowdery, 25 Dec.
1831 in CT, having 7 children 1833 - 1849, some who married in CT or died
there. He was a son of Nathaniel Cobb and Lois Drake, likely of The Taunton
line.
Secondly, unlinked, Ariel Cobb, b. abt 1814 in CT, married Emeline ___, had
two known children but likely more, in Ohio. A son named Roswell F. Cobb
provides no clue but the name was used in Barnstable families more
exclusively than other lines as was the name Merritt. A Nathan Cobb of the
Barnstable line, married in 1810 in CT. He had a son named Merritt in 1815
in CT but the previous birth was in 1813 for a child named Harriet. Some of
their children, like the parents, moved to Michigan.
I will update the info provided but he is not linked yet to a known line. A
DNA test to learn if there is an ancestral connection to what line might be
helpful but more work needs to be found for his line. I hope others may have
another clue to the second Ariel Cobb
Regards,
Paul Cobb

I am related to the Cobbs and trying to find out more about Ariel Cobb, who
would be my 3rd Great Grandfather). According to my info: b: 9-16-1812
Canaan Litchfield CT, d: 3-5-1882 Streetsboro OH. M: Emeline Stone on
11-21-1836. I do not have info regarding who his parents are. I do note
that the book "50 years and more of Akron and Summit County" notes that a Mr
& Mrs Ariel Cobb came from CT 1800-1813. This might be his parents, but I
find no evidence.
Ariel & Emeline had 3 children: Merrit, Roswell and Mary. Roswell married
Julia Thompson and had 6 children: Helen Clarisa, Lynwood, Eugene, Lenora,
Dora and Alice. Helen Clarissa married George Thomas Myers, my great
grandfather.
