I do not know if Alexander Cobb is related to Thomas Jefferson Cobb. I do know that Thomas Jefferson Cobb b. 2 May 18, 1850 was the youngest child of Joseph Etheridge/Ethridge Cobb b. c1800 and his wife, Elizabeth Davis. Their daughter, Frances Jerline Cobb (Thomas J.'s sister) is my 2-great grandmother. She married Michael Haffey, and their only surviving child, Alice, married my great grandfather, John H. Young.
Joseph Etheridge/Ethridge Cobb was born in Georgia, based on census data. There are many researchers trying to connect Joseph Etheridge/Ethridge with other Cobbs born in GA - to date without success. His son, Thomas Jefferson Cobb, married Paralee Martin, and they had five children - 4 boys and 1 girl. The first born of these children was named James Elijah Cobb.
This might not help you, but I am always willing to share. Feel free to contact me directly at nlyyoung @ netscape.net.

Hi, I noted on the 1900 Census of Jemison, Chilton Co., AL there is listed Thomas Jeff Cobb born 1800 in AL and he lists his parents as being born in Georgia. Do you know if Thomas might be related to your James?

Joe Lee Cobb, Vernon Walters, and the self-dubbed bad boy convict Cardell Spaulding, brutally stabbed my 22-year-old brother to death on March 18, 1974. Joe Cobb wrote a suicide note when he was housed in the same facility where my brother's murder took place. His suicide note did not even offer an apology for his murderous behavior. While his family is certainly not responsible for his actions, I hope he rots in hell.

I have no connection to any of these families, but thought it might help someone. I think all these towns are in Massachusetts. This is from the April 2, 1852 issue of the Rockland (Maine) Gazette:
"LOSS OF SCHOONER REAPER, AND THREE LIVES. The schooner Reaper of Yarmouth, Ms., foundered on the 25th inst., when four days out from Philadelphia, for Boston. The Captain, Isaiah C. Kelley, of Harwich, and the mate, Frederick Cobb of Dennis, were picked up by the pilot boat Yankee, and saved. Isaiah D. Phillips of Dennis, ______ French of South Reading, and Jeremiah Kelley of Dennis (a boy), went down with the vessel. Phillips has left a wife and two children. The schooner was twelve years old, and was partly insured in Yarmouth. Her cargo consisted of 4,553 bushels corn, and 50 bbls. of flour, consigned to Mr. A. Hardy. BOSTON JOURNAL"

Again, no connection to this family. This is from the Rockland, Maine Courier-Gazette for the 150th anniversary of Rockland. It is an article entitled "Rockland - City of Lime, Granite and Fishing."
"The history of the lime industry in Rockland centered around the careers of Francis Cobb and his son, William T. Cobb. Francis Cobb was born in Cherryfield in 1818 and moved to Thomaston as a teenager to work for his uncle, Thomas A. Snow. In 1838 Cobb opened his own store in East Thomaston (Rockland), and working with various partners, expanded his business interests."

Hi,
If you have the correct date then this is not a match but a John Marble married an Esther Tower abt or bef 1730 as they had a son Noah Marble, b. 4 Sep 1730, Cohasset, MA. Noah Marble married 7 Apr 1779, Cohasset, MA, Esther Tower, b. 1 Dec 1744, dau. of John Tower and Esther Cobb.
Esther Cobb was a member of the Boston line of the Cobb family tree.
[see "Tower Genealogy. An Account of the Descendants of John Tower, of Hingham, Mass.", Charlemagne Tower, compiler, 1891]
An Elijah Gloyd married an Alice Cobb in 1791 in Abington, MA.
In what location did your John Marble marry Hester/Esther Cobb?
Paul Cobb
