Your Great-Grandfather was Samuel Elijah Cobb, who was your Great-Grandmother? Was it his first wife or his second, America Amanda Wilson? My GGG-Grandfather was Aquilla "Phil" Alexander Cobb son of Samuel and America. I was wondering if Samuel Douglas (your grandfather) was his brother or half brother. If your ancestress is America Amanda, I was wondering if you had any information on her? We have been told that she was Cherokee but other than her birth and death date, that is all we know.

Hi Dee,
This is a very old post, so I may have replied to you on the Chautauqua County site. Joseph was my great great great grandfather. Zenas must have been a twin to my great great grandfather John Porter Cobb, who was born in 1819, although I have the birthdate as February instead of April. At any rate, I have seen Joseph's will online and it confirms that John Porter was his son, and both his obit and gravestone confirm the 1819 birthdate. Other siblings listed in the will were Fanny Louisa, Julia Ellis Enid, Mary Jane, Harriet Sophia, and Lydia Melissa. Family letters confirm John's two brothers died in Michigan from typhoid.
Lineage from John Porter Cobb to me is: John Porter jr. - Harold Reed Cobb - Marden Elwell Cobb - Mary Marden Cobb
