Thank you Bill for your response. I just thought it was interesting that the two were about the same age and the Cobb surname. It was worth the try.
Where did you find Elihue died in Cattaraugus County, NY in 1835 on ancestry.
I know Benjamin and Emeline's mother Elizabeth Moore is buried near Emeline. Their mother, Elizabeth married a second time to ? Parker and then I believe a Moore. Some researchers believe her maiden surname to be Moore. I know sometimes the female will use their maiden surname but I thought it was interesting that she married twice and then uses her ms instead of Parker.
Anyway thanks.
I will try to find Dee Davidson's e-mail or thread.
Jeannie

I do not think William and Ben F. are very close cousins. William came to Middleville alone as a new law graduate of U of Mich because it was a village w/o a lawyer. He had taught school in NY and Ontario before going to law school. On Ancestry I can find your Ben F and his father Elihue who died in 1835-Cattaraugus Co. NY. His mother is buried near daughter Emeline Cobb Gifford's husband's family in McKean PA. Note in Dee Davidson's May 26 item in the thread, that her ancestor Joseph b 1804 and from Chatauqua Co. NY also ended up in McKean PA. Dee and I can find no ties between our families. I think you might be more closely related to her, and I suggest you contact her.

Hello Dee,
In your research for the Cobb family. Have you ever run across the name Elihue/Elihu Cobb born about 1800-1805? in Chautauqua County, New York? He married an Elizabeth.
I am looking for the father of my 3x great grandmother, Emeline Cobb also born New York about 1831 but removed to McKean County, Pennsylvania. She married Job Gifford in McKean County.
Thanks,
Thank you,
Jeannie Cunningham

Hello Bill,
William L. Cobb was a lawyer in Barry County, Michigan. He is buried in Mount Hope, Middleville, Barry County, Michigan cemetery. Permelia is also buried there.
I found the marriage record for your William and Permelia Pratt. He was born Pavilion, New York. They married Yankee Springs, Barry Couty, MI. 1867. He was 29 (1838)
My 3x great grandmother's brother, Benjamin Franklin Cobb, he also moved to Barry County, Michigan by 1860.
Benjamin and your William are the only Cobbs (well that I have found) that buried in that cemetery. They both were born in New York.
I have to believe William and Benjamin are related. They might be cousins. Benjamin was born about 1826 New York and your William 1838 New York.
Thanks,
Jeannie

Hi Eileen
Just saw your message. We've been doing research into your line, and Neil did some going back, we can´t as yet find the connection, by doing this we eliminate those that are not direct ancestors. Some day they will meet. So what in fact we are really doing is a name study of Herkes, in the hope the puzzle will all find into place. Now you mentioned in your message about the Orkneys and a hop skip and jump to Norway, you know that is strange, because this has been passed down the generations for all different branches that this be so.

I am looking for additional information on my a Charles Cobb born in 1860 who was a twin (Lewis), daughter was Sarah born in 1893 and son Cholie born in 1896 I believe. They are African American. I am particularly interested in Sarah Cobb because she married several times I have not been able to track her beyond 40 years of age. She married a Ben Castleman and also Owen Johnson. Her second husband Ben died in 1966 but his death certificate lists him as a widower so I believe Sarah died either in 1966 or before that time. If you have any additional information please let me know, thank you.
