In the meantime, try checking on the internet for a used copy. You have to be diligent in your search but they are available from time to time.

We are also interested in obtaining a copy. Believe printed by Ruralist Press. One of the Cobb searchers on the main Cobb boards was (about two years ago) trying to get it reprinted.
We'll let you know if we hear anything.

Hi,
The earliest Cobb I have in my tree is John Cobb, born in Brechin around 1755. He married Mary Jamieson in Lunan in 1780 and they had 2 daughters and 2 sons - I'm descended from the younger son, Henry.
I've seen records for Thomas and Margaret and I'm sure there is a connection somewhere, but as yet I've had no luck finding it! Thomas and Margaret had a son John born 1765, but that would have made him 15 when he married Mary, which seems too young for it to be my John. The theory I've heard is that all the Brechin/Angus Cobbs are related, and the earliest Cobb I know of is Alexander Cob, who was living in Brechin around 1650.
If you come across John and Mary in your research I'd be very interested to hear more.

My name is also William Cobb from Canada. Used to live in England. I understand that the name Cobb could be from the name Jacob. I read it on the internet some where but not sure where.
