Do you know where your grandfather Willie Burl Cobb was born, and when? I am looking for a Willie Cobb that was born in Arkansas in about 1804. He had 3 brothers and 4 half sisters. His father was Nick Cobb and his mother was Mary Josephine. Is any of this information familiar to you?

I am at work at this time and don't have my family tree info with me. I will check when I get home and let you know. Seems like I recall a John, but don't recall if he was John Patrick or from Pickens County.
Oddly enough, I have other relatives from Pickens and Fannin Counties who are not named Cobb.

I don't know of any other Virgils in the family. I did attend a family reunion a couple of years ago and there were a couple of Ty's and a couple of Richard's there (my dad was Richard).
How are you related to Ty?

I understand that you may be related to John Patrick Cobb, Sr and his son John Jr. My grandfather was Walter Virgil Cobb and his son Virgil Walter Cobb was my father. My dad was born in 1915 and his mother (my grandmother) Alice Deakins Cobb died in 1928. I now have a tombstone picture of his Walter Virgils grave in Bluff Dale Texas but know very little of Walter Virgil except he was on the Ft Worth police force and was born in Georgia in 1870 and died in Texas in 1954.
The gravestone indicates his first wife die in 1895(Emma Alice). My dad had a picture of him in uniform which matches one sent to me by a descendent John Patrick Cobb, Jr. JPC Jr. therefore would have been Walter's brother and my dads uncle.
I understand that you descended from John Patrick, Sr and JPC Jr any other details you may have would be appreciated!
PS:The tombstone photos I understand were taken by you and your sister, MaryFields. Donna Warlick was kind enough to share them with me.

I am a Cobb descendant. Frederick William Cobb was my g-grandfather. His father was John C. Cobb. Frederick was born in Cheektowaga and left home at age 12. Story goes his family was wiped out & he emigrated to Wisconsin! Cousins of Frederick are Michael Bowers of Hamburg NY, and Clara Koester of Hamburg NY. Because of your research - was wondering if our Cobbs are related?
Thanks!
Ms. Berry,
There was a Cobb family that would have fitted Aunt Fanny's age group
that lived up around Rodgers, Ark. (NW) in the early 1900's and a little earlier.
This was the family of my grandfather's younger brother James. I do not
know if it is the correct family or not, but I thought I'd let you know about
it as a starting point. I dont know anything at all about these folks, except
they farmed and raised apples. Descendants are still around up there, maybe
one of them will respond.
Best of Luck,
Thom Cobb

Hi Donald,
Now I remember. Also my cousin Sandy called and spoke with you I think.
Any way....No confirmation as of yet about Plesant. BJ Atkinson just emailed me with some more leads.
Sandy & I are currently looking at David Wayne's family. As we match 100% with him. We think that W. Riley(our gggreatgrandfather) father may have been a brother to Jesse Cobb & that Howell & Jesse are brothers. Sandy found in Tennessee Jesse, Howell, Thomas and a couple of others are siblings. I'll need to get with her to confirm this. There is also another point that Sandy has. That in the (I believe)1840 KY census Howell has an unidentified male fitting our W. Riley's age group living with him. This could be Our W. Riley Cobb.
We have a Cobb reunion in the fall in Muhlenberg County. Also it seems when ever we visit KY. (lol)
I live in Rockford, Michigan(abt. 12 miles north of Grand Rapids) and Sandy lives in Newaygo(abt. 30 miles north of me)
Who is your Greatgrandfather & your Grandfather? Did they live in Indiana? Trying to list names that maybe others in the family may remember or know.
We have a cousin Donald that lives in Evansville, Indiana. We met him last fall at our Cobb reunion.
I'm sure we are connected some how.
Sandy and I are going to Allen Library in Indiana April 20 & 21 for family research.
Right now I am on call to leave for Cleveland Clinic in Ohio for my daughter to have surgery on her Shoulder Blade. Tenative date May 9th. So I've been busy with her and Doctor Specialist.
You can contact me at my personal email address: mamaroeller(a)hotmail.com It may be easier.
