Can anyone help a 80 year old leave more family tree information to my children? My gggrandfather was Greenberry Cobb, b: Jan 15, 1811 in TN., buried in Webster County, Ky. The 1850 Hopkins County, Ky, census showed, living nearby: Rice Cobb and Howel Cobb, born late 1700s in Virginia; Ebineezer Cobb, GA, 1806; Levi, TN and Asa ? cobb.
Another Greenberry Cobb was born in 1848 in Indiana. Ancestry: Wesley Cobb, Madison County, Ky, 1848, Parker Cobb (Caswell Co, NC), Samuel, VA, and Noah Cobb ?. Noah's will lists sons named Ebineezer and Levi.
A third Greenberry Cobb lived in Pontotoc Co., MS in 1860, age 23. He was in the Coonewah Rifles and died during the "war of rebellion". He was born in Abbeville, SC, son of Middleton Cobb.
Many Cobbs had some connection to Northeastern Georgia, northwestern SC, Western NC and Eastern TN. Does any of the above ring a bell with anyone?
Donna, I checked the 1840 Census for North Carolina for James Cobb and
there were 6 possibilities. The 1840 Tennessee Census there were 2. If
you could narrow the search down to maybe the approximate age of James
Cobb, I might be able to help.

Pam,
Thanks for your answer, I have to agree with you.
If Ester Cobb was born in 1876, she should have been in the 1880 census but was not
The 1880 and 1900 census indicate that Tobias and Frances Cobb had 8 children born and 7 living.
Marilyn Ainsworth (mains2(a)cox-internet.com) sent me the Bio on Julius Coe who married 9 Aug 1885 Eva Cobb.
She also sent me the Bio on Ira Wagoner, s/o Amos and Mary Wagoner that lists Amos' children,

I don't believe that Esther Cobb is a child of Tobia Peter Cobb and Frances "Fannie" Wagoner. She is not listed as one of their children in either the 1870 or 1880 census, only Alvin (b. 1868), Eva (b. 1869), Nora, (b. 1873) and Josie (Docia b. 1878). In the 1900 and 1910 census Fannie does say she was the mother of 8 children, 7 still living, but none of those other children, Carl (b. 1881), Mary (b. 1885), or Walton (b. 1888) could be Esther.
Eva A. would be the closest possible match, but she is listed as being 8/12 months in the 1870 census and 9 in the 1880 census. Josie is 2 in the 1880 census and 22 in the 1900 census, so both girls show consistency in their ages across censuses.
