I know that at least two of Noah Cobb's children moved from Caswell Co., NC to Missouri, they were John and Levi Cobb. John died returning from Missouri on train. Noah died in 1809. So your best bet is Levi. Also, the Campbell's from Caswell Co., NC probably moved to Missouri during that time period. A lot of our people in NC went there during that time. I hope this helps. I don't have my notes in front of me but I will get back to you. Hope this helps.

I have a copy of the Death Certificate of Jane Bruce who died Oct 28, 1925 in Barbourville, Knox County, KY. She was the widow of Robert Bruce, and her parents were listed as Tom Bolton from Virginia, and Syntha Cobb of Virginia. The informant was a John Bruce of Barbourville, presumably one her sons.
I would apreciate hearing from anyone who can shed any light on this family.
Thanks,
Bruce D. Burton

Looking for the parents and grandparents of Joseph Littleton Cobb of Caswell Co. N. C. who married Nancy Jennings.
Joseph is my gg grandfather.

Well, I had high hopes......William Cobb of Mass died 29 Aug 1811 in Warwick, Mass
My Dr. William Cobb died 18 Dec 1825 in Kanawha Co., WV
I still suspect he is part of that Mass group somehow. Here's what I have:
From headstone in Kanawha Co, WV (erected by family memebers long after the fact) his diate of birth is 1745.
Married 08 Aug 1787 In Greenbrier Co., WV to Elizabeth Morrison who was born 1765
I can find absolutely nothing prior to 1787.
Items listed with the inventory of his estate suggest he was in fact a doctor of medicine.
Now, supposition.......he was 42 years old when they married so this is most likely not a first marriage for him but the ages of his known children are such that Elizabeth is their mother. He had land grants in WVa most likely, from Rev War service. but I can find no definitive listing of that service.
So......any suggestions? There are a lot of people looking for him...maybe one of us will find a clue
Thanks

Cindy;
Do you have a James Cobb ( my g-g-g-g-grandfather) in your records from Georgia who was born in 1765. He was married to a Susannah May. Their children were: Jesse (my g-g-g-grandfather), James Wesley, Joseph, Daniel, Rachel, Samuel M. & Jacob M.. I believe that James lived in E. Feliciana Parish. The last I know of him was that he was living with his son Joseph in Santa Rosa Co., Fla., in 1850. His son Samuel died in E. Feliciana Parish in 1837. Jesse & James Wesley settled in the Jefferson & Amite Counties of Mississippi.
I'm also working on trying to determine my family ties with Howell and Thomas Rootes Cobb of Georgia. I have compared photographs of them to those of my grandfather Cobb and two of my uncles and the resembelence is unbelieveable. I would appreciate any information that you may be able to give me.
William Morris
William was born 14 June 1745 in Norton, Bristol Co., Mass
He married Susannah Burt 1769 in Taunton, Mass
I have info on his fami8ly, and hers, but can't find anything on the two of them.
They supposedly had two children, William and Susanna.
There is record of William liviing in Norton up to and including 1785 but I can find nothing on him past that date.
Anyone know anything about them?
Thanks,
Alice

Mike,
Franky Cobb is my direct line, there is so much to learn about her and her husband Thomas Richardson Mullins, their son Anderson Mullins, I do have a little more information on, but Franky and Thomas R. Mullins have been a brick wall, there is not enough records found for them.
According to the 1850 census here is the children left in the household that are not married:
Thomas R. Mullins born ca 1777 Va.
Frances born ca 1810 Va, I don't know if this is a misread or another child born before he md Franky or what!!!!! He was old enough to have been md before.
Polly born ca 1824.
Susannah born ca 1827.
Betsy born ca 1829.
Anderson born ca 1820 married Sept 28th 1842 in Franklin Co, Tenn to Louisa Carter.
Anderson died in April 1879 in Bedford County, Tenn. (court record states his Mother was Jesse Cobbs sister).
Thomas R. Mullins another son born ca 1822 and md Isabella Carter a sister to Louisa Carter.
Thomas R. Mullins same court record states his Mother was sister to Jesse.
You mentioned that they had 10 children, I don't have any more children for them.
DNA says they are related to Ambrose Cobbs.
Patsy Cobb md 1810 Grainger Co, Tenn to Isham Williams said named first child Rice Williams.
Is this Rice Cobbs daughter?
Isham and Patsy were in 1820 Smith Co, Tenn and as you know in 1799 Smith was created from Sumner Co, Tenn where Rice was in 1820. By 1850 were in Williamson Co, Ill.
More later.

I can identify the following unknown Cobbs that Mike posted to the list:
(3) "Franky" Cobb, born c1795, md 1811 Grainger Co, TN............
She, Frances, was the sister to Jesse Cobb/s that I am researching. I
have a court document from a case in Franklin Co. TN where one of her
sons testified that she was a sister to "my" Jesse who married Nancy Ann
Mullins in Grainger Co in 1821. Thomas R. Mullins Jr. and Anderson
Mullins, 2 of her sons, were in TN in the 1870's. I don't have a death
date for her.
(10)Patsy Cobb, md 1810 Grainger Co, TN...............She was also a sister
to Jesse and Frances - see above. Other siblings were said to be Rice
and Howell, one of the many Howells. Rice and Howell went to KY. Patsy
named a son Rice; Howell had a son named Jesse. Have no dates yet on
Patsy.
Mike, do you have a list of Frances "Franky" Cobb and Thomas Richardson
Mullins' other children? I've been working with another person on this
line and have several (HA) dead ends.
