James Henry COBB married Annie Elizabeth BURGESS in Halifax County, NC. She the daughter of John T BURGESS and Millicent LEGGETT.
I am trying to determine if Kenneth COBB and his wife in the 1870 census, Dollie, are in fact his parents. They are listed with children, James H, Martha L and George H. The year is correct for my James' birth.
However, in 1880 census, those same parents are listed with children Martha age 28, Sallie age 20 and Bill age 22, the lst two were not listed on the 1870 census.

My g-g-great grandpa was William Riley Cobb born May 15, 1830 in Murphysboro, Rutherford Co.,TN. per his older siblings, their parents died when William was very young. He stated this in his Civil War Pension records. He served in Tennesee. He moved to Kentucky at some point. We have found him living with the Helsley family at the age of 15 yo. He sometimes went by the name of Riley. He married Lucinda Wilcox on July 13, 1851 in Muhlenberg Co.,KY. We do not know who his siblings or Parents are. He has stated in census that his father was born in Virginia & his Mother in Tennessee. This is all we have to go on. We have been searching in the surrounding area of Rutherford Co. for any info. That is when we came up with the court document for James J. Hill to return to court in Oct. 1835 because he was the guardian of James H. Cobb's heirs. This seems to fit in our time frame. We believe he may have been married to John Hill's sister or related in some way. John Hill also m!
oved to Kentucky.
If you need more info please email me. Thank You for your help & any & all info is greatly appreciated.

I am looking for info on James H. Cobb born in Virginia & died in Tennessee after 1830. A James J. Hill was made guardian for his minor heirs. I found a court order for James J. Hill to return to court on October 27, 1835 in Davidson Co., TN for an account of his guardianship. I need to know who James H. Cobb's heirs were. I think he may be my g-g-g-greatgrandfather. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I am a descendant of Harrison Cobb through his son, Martin Sylvester and
Lucretia Hogue. I would love to hear from you to see if we might exchange
information and help each other. I recently got copies of both their Civil
War records and am still trying to get them transcribed into my computer.

Hi Paul,
I must confess, I got very excited when I saw the John Cobb on my email. Unfortunately, although the lines may or may not be related, my Cobb line is not the MA one. I am looking for my great-great grandfather, John Cobb.
Best of luck, and if I get anything that might be useful to you, I will send it, okay.
Bye, Charlotte

A Cobb line in Massachusetts to link:
Seeking any info (parents, siblings, actual birth) of John Cobb, born abt 1812 in Mass. He married Philena Westcott 4/7/1833 in Taunton, Mass. He may be from a Taunton family but have no link to one.
They had two children living with them in 1855 (Wareham census): James H. Cobb, b. abt. July 1835 in Taunton, MA (1865 census has birthplace) and Charles F. Cobb, b. abt. 1843. Neither John nor Filenia are in 1865 Wareham census but son James Cobb's family is there (not Charles).
John died in Wareham 4/28/1858 according Middleboro book but there is no record of death in Wareham Deaths (town hall)nor in Middleboro. Have nothing further on Philena, she may have died elsewhere or remarried after John's death but no marriage record found for her married name.
His son James H. Cobb married Sarah F. Eldridge (b. 1837 in New Bedford, MA) abt 1856 and had settled in Wareham, MA; three children recorded, of which one male (Stillman) and one female (Philena) lived, married, had own children. Sarah died a widow in June 1908 so James Cobb died after June 1900 (census) but before June 1908 (not found yet). Anyone having info regarding the above John Cobb and this family line, or know of him by Charles F. Cobb or any other family
connection (Westcott), would be helpful.
Paul Cobb
