Children of Samuel CANDY and Elizabeth WEST were as follows:
i. Ollie CANDY, born on c1798; died on after 1851. She married to Hair CONRAD; died on 2 November 1844 at Cherokee Nation, IT (now OK); son of Hamilton CONRAD and Onai.
ii. Nancy CANDY, born on c1800.
She married, first, to John T. HARLIN; died on 3 October 1835; and married, second, to Henry COBB.
In the 1820 St. Helena Parish, LA census on pages 75, 76 and 79 we found
a Nathaniel Cob and a Jacob Cob. These men were listed more than once in
the census records but if you study them and the neighbors you will
notice that they are the same people because their neighbors are the same
and the numbers of people in household are the same and the same ages.
Neighbors were Nathan Wilkinson, Abraham Anderson and others.
A Jacob Cobb seemed to have come into this are ca 1810 according to court
records and Jacob had no heirs other than a Samuel who was son of a
Choctaw woman. Jacob went to court to have Samuel made his legal heir.
Samuel was supposedly living in MS along the Pearl River. Later he is
found in Leake Co, MS listed as in the Indian Nation.
My interest is in trying to determine who this Jacob was and how he was
related to Nathaniel. Any help appreciated.
Betty
Could someone tell me something about the two Thomas Cobb of Kanawha County in the 1810and 1820 census?
The first in 1810 seems to be head of a family of two young men 16-26 with a sister or wife 16-26 and with four young children -three of which were less than 10.
The second seems to have a male over 45, but with 4 men 26-45 and only one woman of married age 26-45. Also a couple of boys or young men 16-26 along with 5 children - 4 under 10 and 2 10-16.
By 1830, there is no Thomas in Kanawha County.
Any ideas?

I was doing some "achuff" research and came across a reference to a William and Lena (Seifert) Cobb, their son Frank Cobb b. 7 Jan 1884 in Walton, NJ,
lived in Royersford at 534 Walnut St and worked for the Royersford Trust Co. He married Miriam Tyson who 7 Dec 1922. He was still living in 1923.
Source: History of Montgomery County, PA by Clifton S. Hunsicker. Lewis Historical Publishing Co, New York and Chicago, 1923.
I found a reference hidden in the 3 volumes and biographies to an Elizabeth Achuff (married to a William Rupert) born before 1780 so I kept looking and found the Cobb info.
Hello Sheryl. The Cherokees were in Texas, including a Chief John Brown... so it is very possible.
Hope it helps.

I'm looking for information on my great-grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Cobb. She married George Solomon Hutto 12/25/1887 in Shelby county, Texas. They had 13 children. I have been told that she was at least part (maybe 1/2) Cherokee. This is all the information I have been able to locate. Does anyone have information on her?

Andrew Jackson Cobb was the youngest child of James and Elizabeth Cobb. James was son of Nathaniel and Betty or Betsy Cobb in Union co, SC.
Andrew had children by two Indian or part Indian girls, Susan and Lucy Vickery and moved with both wives and all the children to OK sometime after the Trail of Tears. The Vickery girls were Probably part Cherokee as this was the major tribe of Indians in that part of GA.
Hello Fellow Researchers. I found this interesting from one of my other lists... my great-grandpop was Robert Lee Cobb who also lived in Brinkley Arkansas.
Hope this helps.

Buffy,
The here are the addys you need for the Diocese, Cathedral of St. Andrew and
Diocese of Little Rock, Arkansas
Chancery: 2415 N. Tyler St. - P.O. Box 7239 - Little Rock, AR 72217
Locate Catholic Churches and Mass Times for Arkansas
Cathedral of St. Andrew
617 Louisiana Street - Little Rock, AR 72201
Phone: (501) 374-2794 E-mail: standrew(a)aristotle.net
St Edward's Catholic Church 801 Sherman St Little Rock, AR 72202
501-374-5767
Maybe the email addy of St. Andrew's will lead to the marriage/baptismal
records of St. Edward's.
I am positive that the Arbogast family were communicants of St. Edward's for
two reasons: their residence, 711 Ferry, is one block from the church and
the residents in that neighborhood were of German descent. The church is
actually between Sherman and Ferry. My paternal grandmother's home was
three blocks from the church. The area is in the heart of historic Quapaw
Quarters and across the street from what is now known as McArthur Park, the
site of the Union Army headquarters in the Civil War. I am sure Frederick's
CW pension app states which side he fought on. I was curious about that.
Also, are you certain of the spelling of Catherine Berst Arbogast's maiden
name? We have Bertsch of Catholic faith in our allied family in that Little
Rock era. My maternal grandmother was born in here in 1881 (same year as
George), the granddaughter of a German/Prussian immigrant who arrived in
Little Rock ca. 1850.
I haven't had any luck find info on R. L. Cobb Co., and can't remember it
being in existence in my youth. His occupation would lead you to believe
he worked for a lumber company or home builder.
I hope this helps!
