John Cobb born 1814, Henry Co., KY did not tell us his parents or siblings names. He worked on a keel boat for several years, farmed in IA, ILL and married twice in ILL, traveled across the prarie in 1850 and settled in Lake County, CA. I have the CA family and am searching for John's ancestors.

Thanks Leigh! I will certainly let you know any further information I am able to find out. Mozelle, my grandmother, who was married to "Lee Roy Cobb" was born in Alabama -- so there is some sort of Alabama/Georgia connection going on here -- but what, I just havn't a clue yet. Will keep you posted. Annie

I wish I could say there is a connection, but alas......My Leroy/Lee Roy was born in Shelby Co. AL and his time spent in the LaGrange area was very short. (b. 1890 d. 1966). He was back in Shelby Co. for the 1900 Census. Ive found out that his father's name was Jim COBB who married Nancy(aka Nellie akd Nannie L.) STARNES. My Leroy/Lee Roy married Dollie Jane McGrady in Talladega Co AL in 1912, (both resided in Sycamore AL and were employeed by Avondale Mills). I have discovered that both Jim Cobb and Nancy/Nellie/Nanny L. Starnes were from GA....Im sure that somewhere down the line were connected.....its just not with Leroy.....I wish I had better news......If you run up on another possible connection, let me know, I am very anxious to connect with all my Cobb/Starnes kin!!
God Bless
Leigh Cobb Davis
Did Mozelle marry again? And was your mother the child of another man?
LeRoy m. a Willie Mae Copeland and started having children in 1925.
