You wouldn't have a female Cobb, married to an unknown Johnson and living in Kansas in 1877, would you? Husband's grandfather, Frederick Edwin Johnson born in Kansas on May 1, 1877.
Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry I forgot to include the url in my previous message.
Thought this might be of interest and wanted to share it with you.
While searching for marriage records, I ran across a great source of free
lookups on Ancestral Findings. This site offers free lookups of marriage,
birth, death, immigration, land, military and census records in dozens of
different resources.
Lookups are limited to one per day, but what a great way to track down
records that you'd otherwise have to purchase. Plus, when you request a
lookup, you're automatically entered in a drawing to win a free surname
report-a report from 10 genealogical databases of your choice.
While you're on the site, check out the "View Hard to Find Surnames" link.
This is a searchable database where you can post and read brick wall
problems.

I hope this information helps. If you have problems or further questions
please let me know. :-) Thanks, Mike

My g-grandmother, Katherine E. Cobb, was born in Coushatta, Red River, LA about 1851. She died in Coushatta, Red River, LA about 1879.
She married Samuel Taylor Holloway. He was born in 1849 in Monroe, AL and died in 1878 in LA.
They had two children in LA, including my grandfather, Samuel Taylor Holloway (b.1876) and Clara Emmaline Holloway (b.1878). After their parents died, the two small children were taken back to GA to be raised by relatives.
Can anyone help identify the parents of Katherine E. Cobb?

I may be the the last person to have found this resource. Even if it is old
news, I thought I'd share it anyway. This is the link to the Illinois
Statewide Marriage Index - 1763 to 1900. It is online and it is FREE.
Here is the link:

If any other states have this kind of searchable archive, please share the
link. I'd love to search a few other states also.

Hello List. There is a Cobham, Kent and a Cobham, Surrey. Has there ever
been a connection with the "Cobbs of Kent" coming from Cobham, Kent and or
Cobham, Surrey? Just curious... because I have seen it show up here and
there. Happy Researching
God bless. Peace and blessings.

Hello Stacy. Here are a few things to think about and consider researching... #1 - If he and his family were 'white' they, may have been murdered by the Indians or if he and his family were 'white-Indian mixed-bloods' they, may have been murdered by the 'whites'... and dumped into a mass grave. #2 - If he and his family were 'white-Indian mixed-bloods' then they could have been among the Indians that murdered by the whites through being given Small-pox laden blankets and then dumped into a mass grave. #3 - or they could have been among the many who died as a result of one on the many plagues and epidemics that ravaged this country and the rest of the world. #4 - Or, you can also have some greedy person just come in and murder a family and or community just to get their land. Back then, you had a process called 'Squatting"... you lived on the land for some time period and then it became yours. I am sure that this happened a lot. So, you need to know when he and his fami!
ly lived and then see if there were any plagues and epidemics or other in their community at that time.
I lost several ancestors and/or members of their family to the big Flu epidemic that swept this country in the early 1900s and to England in the 1600s.
