BJ,
I hope you don't mind me putting my two cents in here. I am not of your Cobb
line but could not help marveling at the wonderful instrument this deed is! I
have done research in Warren Co and while I have not gotten any deeds yet, I
hope when I do they are as complete as this one. It is a treasure trove it
seems to me for several surnames.
I assume you are on the Warren list and the Ohio list? You really ought to
post this for them. The title transfere of that piece of land is a gem.
My ancestors to Warren Co were from New Jersey, as were the bulk of the early
settlers there. (Mine were from Morristown). This is owing to the Symmes
Purchase of land for RW men. If you mean that you do not know the origin of
your Semer Cobb, you might look there.
Good luck,
Carleen
I don't know if the Jim you list is the one I'm looking for, but...
I'm looking for info on Jim Cobb that married a Barbara Black. They had a
daughter named Rachel E. Cobb. She was born in 1869.

Tonja, I received an E-Mail from a lady who informed me that Rufus Cobb, father of Howard was married twice. His first wife was Elizabeth, mother of Howard, Charlie, Joseph C.(Bay), Doke or Doak & Ada. He remarried again in 1867 & had seven more children. She also thought he had another son named Howell. She also seemed to think Rufus may have come from N.C. I am going to try to check on that . LC
I saw your post and was curious if your Cobbs relate to mine. I looked for your AJ Cobb in the 1850 Dooly census and was unable to find him. I did find your Pearsons. He is listed as BO Pearson.
In case someone is interested, several of us have teamed up to place a
database on each of the major Cobb family lines that have immigrated to
America, at one collective website...
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cobb . We currently have databases
on the following (1) Ambrose Cobbs of Virginia, (2) Joseph Cobb of Virginia,
(3) Henry Cobb of Barnstable, MA, (4) Nathaniel Cobb of South Carolina, and
(5) the Dorset Cobbs of Taunton, NJ, which does include the descendants of
Clisby Cobb of NC.
We welcome all comers.

Today I was in Lebanon, Warren Co, OH in the court house looking for
records of Samuel Campbell who married Margaret Cobb and I found this
record. I had not been aware that Semer had been in the same place as
Margaret and look how early it is too. I did not find any other record
that shows him selling this property however.
Warren Co, OH....9/12/1807 Charles Scott & Elizabeth his wife, of Warren
Co, OH sold to Semer Cobb of Warren Co, OH for $570, a piece of property
in Warren Co, IN described as follows.
On Cesars Creek beginning at a stake on John Miller, Sr's line near a
dogwood and a corner to Caleb Easterlings standing S 67 degrees, E 42
poles from 2 sugar trees and a small beech corner to Mills in outline of
the whole survey and running thence west to Esterling line N 22 degrees
East 190 poles to a stake between 2 beeches in the original line and
corner to Esterlin then with the original line S 64 1/2 degrees E 114
poles to a gum and 2 beeches in the original line of the whole survey and
corner with Thomas Haskett thence with Haskett's line S 23 degrees W 184
poles to a hackberry near a branch corner to John Mills, Jr and John
Mills, Sr and with Mills, Sr line N 67 degrees W 110 pols to the
beg...130 acrs, part of Survey N777 originally on 5th June 1798 granted
under patent to James Macker for 1000 acres and conveyed by him to Abijah
O'Neall by deed on 8/3/1807 and conveyed by Abijah O'Neall to Charles
Scott on 8 21 1807. Witness: Thomas Lewis, Caleb Esterlin.
1800-1810 tax list included a Samuel Campbell in Green Co, OH on Sugar
Creek, listed 1809. Green Co is a stone's throw from Mt. Holly in Warren
Co. You could almost spit that far and Cesar Creek is now a reservoir
with recreational facilities quite close to Mt. Holly.
Just curious that I've not seen anyone mention that Semer was in Warren
Co, IN with the Campbell's also.
As far as Semer's place of birth, has anyone seen any record that shows
him anywhere else before this 1807 date? A deed or something?
BJ

Hello- all!
Seeing all the postings on the Cobb list has made me dig back
through my family tree and look up my Cobb line as well. I'm trying to
find any information possible on William Henry Cobb- he was the son of
John Cobb? - William married Margaret Beasley in Mississippi. He was
born in 1838 (Mississippi) and died in August, 1924- he is my g-g-
grandfather and has been one of my brick walls. My mother was adopted
as a baby and we know so very little aboutt his family and tracing the
paper trail has been difficult to say the least. Any info would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Paula
Hi all,
I am totally stumped on this line. I have a SUSANNA(H) COBB bc 1806 and who
married John R. Richardson in Portage County, Ohio on 28 February 1826.
Susannah is listed as "of New York" on her marriage license. I know Susannah
and John moved to Ashtabula County, Ohio and raised a family there that
consisted of at least three children: Eunice bc: 1828, John bc 1831 and Mary
bc1847. I know John was born in Woodbridge, Connecticut on 9 May 1805 and
that he was a fourth cousin of his daughter, Eunice's second husband,
Benjamin Cook Hall, who was born in Litchfield, Connecticut on14 December
1796.
But I can locate no further information on Susannah. Any ideas on how I can
break through this brick wall? Any other Ohio Cobbs out there?
Thanks!
Cherre
I agree with Kenny. seeing the correspondence on the list has helped me at least eliminate a couple of lines that I would have spent weeks researching. Please continue posting to the list.
thanks
Patti
P. S. Am still stuck on Henry M. Cobb who died in Missouri but was born (?) 1815 in NC-SC. Any help would be appreciated. According to legend his father died young mother remarried--don't know to whom.

Can someone out there send me information on the VT Cobb family, in
particular is there one named Darick/Derrick/Richard Cobb who would have been
born about 1796 as he was age 54 on the 1850 census of Wyalusing Township,
Bradford County, PA. He seems to first appear on assessment lists in 1823 in
PA. He married Cynthia Beeman daughter of Ebenezer Beeman.
Thanks in advance for any information.

Hi-I'm not sure if we can connect or not. I think my ggrandfather
was named Zack Cobb and my grandmother was named Ida
I am just now getting to the Cobb connection. I do know I had
a great-uncle that was called "Pink" Cobb. I also know my Cobb
relatives lived in Yell and Pope Counties in Arkansas and I think
at one time I has at least one female relative that lived in
Harrison Ar. I also have been told [ I'm not sure it is accuraate]
that back somewhere probably ggggrandmother was American
Indian. I would like to correspond with you if you think we connect. ggnita(a)netscape.net
