Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Maybe a good idea for future generations.
Looking out for our descendants ...

For anyone researching Dr. William Cobb who came to Kanawha Co.,WV, I
just found an entry on Gendex for a Hewett Cobb. One of Dr. William's
sons was named Hewett/Hughett, and in one article about Dr. William his
grandson was quoted as saying he came from England. The Cobb family
listed on Gendex has a few Hewetts, all descended from William and Mary
(Hewett) Cobb in the first part of the 1700's. Could this be Dr.
William's family?
Sandy McSpadden.
I am seeking information on Melinda or Malinda Cobb. Born October 17, 1840
and died in Granby, Missouri in . She married Charles Abbott Parker of
St. Louis in 1867.
Census records show that a Malinda Cobbwas born in Missouri. They list as
follows for Brunswick Township, Chariton County, Missouri:
no. surname given age sex occupation
val. place of birth
12 892 892 Cobb William 37 M Farmer
100 unknown
13 892 892 Cobb Lucinda 27
F unknown
14 892 892 Cobb George 15
M MO
15 892 892 Cobb Malinda 10
F MO
16 892 892 Cobb Elen 7
F MO
17 892 892 Cobb Margarett 4
F MO
18 892 892 Cobb Elizabeth 3
F MO
This is from the USGENWEB Census Project as transcribed for Chariton County.
I also found some information about the 49th Missouri Volunteer Infantry
organized between August 1864 and February 1865 in Missouri. Two Cobbs are
listed, and one is William in Company K. The brigade was stationed at St.
Louis between Jan 30 and Feb 1, 1865 before going to New Orleans. If William
Cobb's family came to St. Louis, following the company, that Malinda would
have been 15 and could have met my Charles Abbott Parker then. I can't
connect these census records with my family information so its Just
speculation so far, but that's part of the fun. There's another Cobb,
Edward, listed in the same company.
By the way, my family records - mostly hearsay - have Melinda Cobb's father
as William, but the mother as Tempee (no surname). I can't reconcile that
with the Chariton County census showing a Lucinda as the mother, but maybe
the family lost the first name and Tempee is a surname.
Any information that connects with this would be appreciated. bjatkinson is
taking a look in his database to check any connections.

Does anyone have any information o George Winfield Cobb who was living
in Jefferson Co. Kansas in 1875? His father was Zipron Cobb from New

interested in data on Zipron and before.
Thanks.

I am looking for information on Jennie Cobb, born about 1860 in MA and married to George Benjamin Delano. George died in his early 30"s and I don't know what happened to Jennie. They had three children: Janet Anderson Delano, Merritt Otis Delano and Josephine Delano, all born in the late 1800's. I think her father was Merritt Cobb, also from MA and she may have had an uncle named Emory Cobb. I do not know her mother's name. Some of the Cobbs may have moved to ME. Any information on Massachusetts Cobbs would be appreciated. Thank you.

this is all I have and I noticed that when I copied the info into my
database that I made the terrible error of not makeing a source and
giving credit where due. I am awfully embarrassed and if I had done what
I should have done, we would know who to contact, wouldn't we??? Hate
when that happens! My appologies to the source, who ever he or she might
be. Sending this to the list in hopes that the person who had originally
sent this info will contact me for my humble appologies. BJ
