Hello to all, I am posting to several lists because this family never
settled,a nd left traces in at least 3 counties of South Dakota. To the
COBB list for the key .
My search is for any information on All of the "Subject" listed
surnames;
And the main key;
Joseph COBB, born about 1814, was in the lumber business, or a woodsman
in NY and Warren Co PA, early, then travelled with his family to
Michigan, and to South Dakota. We cannot find a burial for him.
HIs second wife is here,NY, but he is buried probably in one of 3
counties
in South Dakota, Perhaps his first wife, TABITHA, also.
His sons and Grandsons were also on this trek., There must have been a
large group of several families who emigrated from Western NY and Warren
Co PA, to MI to South Dakota.
Daughter of Joseph and Second wife Isabel Lesher,( possibly/probably
sister of the first wife Tabitha Lesher),
Olive Augusta COBB, born NY,July 13 1845, married in MI Sept 21, 1865
to Dennis William REARDON, , they also went to SD., but returned to NY
in 1884, 2 weeks later, Dennis William Reardon, her husband died, here
in Chautauqua co NY.she died here 1915 My G G Grandparents. Maternal.
George Freedom COBB, born June 10 1850, Jamestown, Chautauqua CO NY,
Married in Calhoun Co Michigan to Florence HATCH, born July 29 1852,
Hermosa Michigan, they migrated to South Dakota with REARDON, and other
COBB, possibly WATERMAN also.
Geo COBB died in White River, Mellette County, South Dakota, July 22
1939.
Florence Hatch COBB died in Hermosa, Custer Co SD, 1891
COBB Children;of born 1850 George;
Edith Juliette COBB, born 1873, married in Chautauqua co NY to Norman
WATERMAN, Died here, Chaut, NY.
Reverend Charles Monroe COBB, born Aug 28 1881, Vermillion, Clay Co SD,
died Nov 3 1980 in Calif., married to Marguerite Avey or Avery
Arthur Ernest COBB, 1884- married to CRITCH
George Fred COBB, born April 1878, married to MEINERS, died somewhere in
SD.
Florence Maude COBB, born Sept. 7 1890, Hermosa, Custer Co SD, married
to CARTWRIGHT
Dora Isabel COBB, born Dec 27 1877, Vermillion, Clay Co SD, married to
Charles Dorias BROPHY
Frank or FRANCIS MARION COBB, born Oct 8 1886, Vermillion, Clay, South
Dakota
Died August 18 1891, Hermosa, Custer Co SD
You can see that they moved a lot, some came back to, or never left
NY. I
am posting to all the known inhabited counties for this family of
COBB,and family
It's been a hard family to trace.
I can use any information,I have info to share.

Hi fellow genies,
I read a posting about a Josep of Bacon or Becon but could not locate it

I have a request, since I only receive the digest version it is much
easier on me if everyone would list the pertinent name and location in
their subject line. This way I know if I want to read it or not. I
have a specific line I'm researching and belong to so many lists its
much easier to scan the headers and delete if the name and especially
the location doesn't fit. I realize I can still miss important things,
have and will but it works for me now.
Thanks everyone for sharing your info while I continue to lurk for my
elusive Edmund Cobb, VA.

Robert and Others:
In my previous message I made it look like Ruth Winger Bagley's maiden name
was Ruth Winger Bagley Cobb when it wasn't. Of course, it was just Ruth
Winger Bagley. I hope this didn't confuse anyone.
Thanks again,

Is anyone familiar withan Orville Simmons BELL b. 6 Dec 1859 (Lee Co.,
MS?) who m. Sarah Francis COBB in (Clay Co?) in 1884? Sarah d. in 1937
in Union Co., MS & Orville d. 1935 in Union Co. Both buried in Fairfield
Cem. Trying to find a trace of his parents. Thanks. Linda
Robert and Others:
Thank you so much for helping me out. I hope the information I have will
assist you or anyone else in some respect.
Ruth Winger Bagley Cobb (born 1902 in Detroit, Michigan) married William
Brooks Cobb in 1933 (probably in New York, but I also have one address for
them in Winnetka, Illinois).
Ruther Winger Bagley Cobb graduated from Smith College in New York in 1925
and became an Insurance Adjuster with the Equitable Life Assurance Society
in New York from 1927-1934. I am unsure of William Brooks Cobb's line of
work.
Ruth Winger Bagley Cobb (I'm using full names to keep things clear--hope you
don't mind) and William Brooks Cobb had one daughter that I know of: Anne
B. Cobb (I assume the B. was for Brooks, but I don't know). Anne B. Cobb
was born in 1933 in (I'm almost positive) New York City. I NEED TO FIND OUT
VERY BADLY IF SHE'S STILL LIVING! If you know of anyone who could help me
find her (or any other children from Ruther Winger Bagley Cobb and William
Brooks Cobb), I would be about the happiest person on the planet. My
problem is that I don't know her married name, or I might just be able to
locate her through a phone book. Any ideas?! The dates are recent so I
should have good luck. Also, if Anne B. Cobb had any children I would be in
luck.
Also, I know that Ruth Winger Bagley Cobb died in 1949, presumably in New
York City.
I want to make sure that this message goes to the entire Cobb Listserv
group, so would you mind letting me know if it does not?
Thanks again for your help. I hope this information helps someone besides
me.
Sincerely,
J. Wesley Null
P.S.--The dissertation (biography) is going well. I just need to find an
ancestor!!

I am searching for the COBB family of East Branch, Warren Co PA, and the
COBB families that settled in the area, of Cobbs
Corner, and Cobb Road, and also in East Branch , the next settlement in
the area, too small to call towns
COBB corner is a dirt road, There was a cemetery of COBB family but it
sank into the swamp, and the town? put a marker near the place,1973, and
it states their records are in the church, but the church fell down.
These settlements are near Warren, Sugar Grove, and Columbus PA, and

My Cobb ancestor married in Noxubee County, MS about 1838. It was
during this time period that many folks were leaving Edgecombe Co., NC
and other parts of NC and heading westward. It seems that my Cobb
ancestor might have travelled with her family to Alabama and then into
Mississippi.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone related to the following Cobb
family. My line is from Jonas Cobb's daughter, Elizabeth (Betty Anne)
born about 1825.
Jonas and Stephen Cobb, were sons of Winifred Gray and Edward Cobb
(1748-1817).
Children of Jonas Cobb
1. Mattie Matilda (1812-1892) m. Benjamin Dilda
2. Sally m. Manuel Wooten
3. Eliza (b. 1820) m. ? Walston
4. Gatsy Ann (1823-1866) m. 1844 Levi W. Edwards (had 9 children)
5. Elizabeth (Betty) Ann (b. 1825)
6. Levi E. (b. 1829)
7. Jonas Gray (1834-1892) m. Elizabeth Owens
My sincere thanks for a reply or information.
